This is a must-have item for any reef aquarium. This model, on the other hand, needs to be fine-tuned on a regular basis. To calibrate it on a regular basis, keep a gallon of distilled water on hand. Every time I use it, my salinity appears to be off, but when I check the calibration, I discover that it is the tool that is off. Now I'm not convinced it was calibrated first.
My hydrometer read 1 on the scale. 024 & refract had a value of one. It, in my opinion, works extremely well. I do have to re-calibrate it after each use, which makes me nervous at times.
If you want to calibrate this meter, you shouldn't spend any money on calibration fluid. Simple boil some water and collect the condensate to make your own. If you're not sure how, there's plenty of information on YouTube and the web.
A great kit at a good price.
Right out of the box, it was calibrated and ready to use. It's a little flimsier in construction, but it does the job well for the price! I'd buy it again!.
This is a fantastic device that I use in my saltwater aquarium.
