Total serum or plasma protein (SP): 2-14 g/dl, urine specific gravity of dogs (or large animals): 1. 000~1. 060RI, - cat (or small animal) urine specific gravity: 1. 000~1. 060RI

It comes with automatic temperature compensation, making it easier to use in a variety of temperatures.

Yes, if your "athlete" is a canine or feline. According to the product description, this refractometer is used to measure the specific gravity of animal urine. The graf is calibrated with pictures of a dog on the left and a cat on the right when viewing the urine specimen. The pictures show what I'm talking about. I hope this has been of assistance.

Is this going to be able to measure seawater?

It won't be able to detect salt water.

Is the calibration done with distilled water?

yes. My urinalysis kit arrived on time, but I always double-check before using it.

That's a load of nonsense

It's not going to work. In an attempt to loosen the screw, the flimsy screwdriver's tip broke. I tried a different screwdriver, but it only flips the screen around, not adjusting the line, and the instructions aren't compatible with the model. I attempted to enlist the assistance of my veterinarian, but the device is ineffective, and I am unable to return it at this time. What a colossal financial blunder! This is a complete and total waste of time!.
