Questions & Answers

How do you keep it down until it establishes a good root system? Mine keeps rising to the surface. ?

You'll need to separate the large piece into individual plants, each with two to four blades of grass. Then plant them a few centimeters apart to ensure that they not only stay in the dirt, but also form a thick carpet as quickly as possible. It's arduous and time-consuming work; I know because I built a 55-gallon tank last winter. It now appears to be fantastic. For the first few weeks, use caution when vacuuming around it until they have rooted. To make them really grow, use brighter lights and either CO2 or Excel (which I prefer to CO2).

Are these suitable for Goldfish or Betta Fish aquariums?

A special substrate (gravel) aids in the growth of plants in aquariums, and a betta does well with freshwater plants. The goldfish, on the other hand, enjoy eating plants and prodding them until they are uprooted. If you want to learn more about growing plants in aquariums, there are many resources available online; simply search for freshwater planted aquariums to find a wealth of information.

What kind of light does this plant require? Is it going to work well in low-light situations?

It is dependent on the amount of darkness. It will not be enough light to grow plants if you use the type of light that comes standard with most aquariums. You want a good aquarium light that has the correct light spectrum (6500k is best, 12000k is acceptable). Dwarf hairgrass will not thrive unless there is enough light to shine all the way to the bottom of the tank. There is a wealth of information available on the internet about how to grow freshwater plants in an aquarium. It's a fantastic pastime to participate in. If you're interested, you could look it up on Google.

Is it necessary to submerge this grass completely?

In my tank, some are growing on top of a floating piece of cork bark. It remains damp but does not become submerged. It does not appear to spread as quickly as what is found beneath the surface. It's been a few years now.

Purchase moss from a local retailer or a shipper willing to deliver it overnight
3/5

I was irritated that the seller chose to send regular mail in airtight containers rather than using USPS Express Mail. I realize it's moss, but I've never had plants shipped without priority before. Naturally, due to a lack of funding, USPS is having difficulties, and my package was lost. Two of the three packages were nearly solid brown by the time I found it. Although I thoroughly rinsed them, the plants appeared to develop a type of bacteria while baking in their package. Regardless, I planted them, and they're mostly dead despite my best efforts. My tank has become cloudy and resembles a moss graveyard. There are only a few remaining green strands. I squandered $40. The only reason I gave it two stars was because there was a lot of moss.

It's on par with LFS in terms of quality
5/5

I bought dwarf hair grass from Amazon, then bought more from my local fish store because it was cheaper. It was cheaper at my LFS, but I didn't get as much and ran the risk of getting snails. This product gives you more bang for your buck and does exactly what it says on the tin. I've had mine for about a month in a rocky substrate that wasn't designed for live plants.

What a fantastic purchase! Upon arrival, you will find green, lush, and healthy plants
5/5

Plants arrived in excellent condition, and despite the fact that I had paid for standard shipping, they upgraded it to expedited, which arrived 5 days earlier than expected! I will definitely purchase from this seller in the future. E. appears to be very healthy and green. parvula. I ordered two packs and was able to cover a 50-gallon aquarium with them. Granted, I already had some Eleocharis in there, and how much you want to plant will also depend on your budget. I'd say 5 of these would be enough to cover a 50 gallon tank if there was nothing else in it.

It didn't make it through the shipping process
3/5

Sadly, despite being well-intentioned, These didn't make it to me in any usable condition, despite being packed in a sealed container and including a large heat pack in the box. I would say 80% of it was yellow to brown already, and despite carefully trying to bring it back to life in clean captured and treated rainwater, it is dead and starting to% I kept a few rooted sections, but I don't think it's worth it. It appears to have been sent cross-country. country, and who knows what the weather was going to be like on the way there.

Excellent craftsmanship
5/5

The quality of this grass is outstanding. I attempted to plant everything at the same time. That didn't work, so I did what was suggested and divided it into sections. On the foreground substrate, it looks fantastic. My only issue now is that my fish adore it, and when they try to nibble on it, the section unrppts and floats to the surface. All I have to do now is keep replanting them, hoping that the roots will take hold quickly. It's a hit with both my clown loaches and cichlids. I'd buy it again without hesitation.

There are a LOT of plants in this picture
5/5

Prepare to put in some effort to get all of the individual plants from this dense culture planted. I used these to completely cover the foreground of my smallest tank (55) and had enough left over to add to a 75-gallon tank.

Nice DHG
4/5

Arrived ahead of schedule. Great packaging with plant and care information as well as a heating pad to keep the DHG warm in the winter. The grass is approximately 2-feet tall. 3 inches tall and a beautiful shade of green. To give you an idea of how much it takes, I have a 55 gallon bow front tank, and when planted properly (dime sized clumps an inch apart), it takes up about a third of the tank flow. br>br>Once I see how long the plants will last, I'll upgrade my rating to five stars. I understand that not all plants will thrive in every tank, but they must pass the emersion test to be considered.

Pond snails, be careful! When it arrived, the plant appeared to be in good health
3/5

However, shortly after planting this, two of my fish and two of my mystery snails died (and several others became sick; I was able to save the other four by dosing with kanaplex), and I now have a pond snail infestation in my tank. If you've ever had a pond snail infestation, you know that the only way to get rid of them is to clean out the tank completely. Since then, I've had to buy assassin snails to control the pond snails and relocate all of my mystery and nerite snails to a 5 gallon tank. If I don't get rid of everything and start over, I'll never be able to keep mystery/nerites in my 35gal.
