Questions & Answers
It all depends on how densely and quickly you want the pearl weed to be planted. You break it up into small pieces, which then send runners out to spread across the substrate. A lake will eventually be filled by a culture.
You'd probably get at least 100 if you dismantled the culture and separated each individual stem (which I'm not sure why you'd want to do). I mean, the culture is quite large, and even if you planted it all in the same spot, after a few months it will have spread throughout your tank. I have had mine for a few weeks in a newly planted tank and it continues to spread and grow every day. I divided my culture into seven pieces, but I wouldn't recommend separating each stem (I'm not sure if that was your goal).
Not if you have a good light that reaches the bottom of the tank and you keep it trimmed on a regular basis. Your light should reach all the way to the bottom of the tank, so the plant doesn't feel compelled to grow tall.
Perhaps if you add some fertilizer, but this plant requires a lot of nutrients in order to thrive.

Pros: br>* The pearl weed arrived in perfect condition. br>* arrived much sooner than anticipatedbr>br>Cons:
The instructions that you could just "wash off the gel" were incorrect.
* washing never fully got rid of gel leaving 75% of gel on was br> * While the material is not toxic to fish, it will block their system if they eat it because they can't digest it, so it's important to wash it away. br> * Gel required over an hour of soaking, which I had to figure out on my own because they don't tell you. br>br>* Plant *DOES NOT SINK OR STICK* even when submerged in water; it requires rocks or manual anchoring to stay afloat. br> * Using metal claspers didn't help much; you couldn't just stick it in; it kept trying to float back up. br> * Even when submerged, if you split it up *too much*, it could float back up. br>br>It would have been nice to have been informed about this, or at the very least not *mis-informed about it. informed!.
My 5-star rating is based on my previous purchases as a repeat customer. Greenpro's star rating and opinion have remained unchanged. Our diverse range of services includes: The plants arrived in excellent condition and ahead of schedule. The gel was still intact, and the plants appeared to be healthy and vibrant. It was a breeze to get rid of the gel. Plants have multiplied well in our freshwater aquascape tanks and are thriving. Greenpro plants have completely converted my husband and me, and we will continue to buy from this vendor. We've had one bad experience with live plants in tanks purchased from a local vendor. LOTS of pest snails found their way into our tank. As a result, we've worked to humanely remove the snails, and we won't be purchasing those plants again because we prefer our tank residents to be ones we choose. Thanks to Greenpro, our tanks are now green and beautiful, rather than hitchhikers who produce unwanted biowaste.
UPDATE: I can't believe it's been almost a year! (April 2020 to April 2021) These plants are still going strong in January 2021, and I've propagated them and given some away to friends. A fantastic group of people! ORIGINAL REVIEW: BR>BR>ORIGINAL REVIEW: BR>BR>ORIGINAL REVIEW: BR>ORIGINAL REVIEW For the past two months, I've been growing this aquatic plant in my aquarium, and I'm really enjoying it! I do need a brighter light to keep them compact, but they are a lovely bright green low aquatic plant that grows well. The plants arrived healthy and pest-free, thanks to the professional packaging. They were about 3cm tall when they first arrived. br> It's tricky to separate the plants from their growing gel, but I just did a gentle cycle of rinsing, tweezing them apart or flicking gel pieces away with a paint brush, and then laying them out on a tray to prepare for planting. I use root tabs and apply liquid fertilizer to my aquatic plants once a week. My purchase was a great success! I'll specifically look up this company again when I need new aquarium plants.
I got the one on the left a few weeks before the one on the right, and you can see the difference in how much has melted off or is about to since I tried to plant it. I'm guessing it's because they haven't rooted properly or because I buried it too deeply, but I don't believe that's the case! I'm seeing if putting some weight on it will help. In either case, as long as enough of them root, you can propagate them later if you're patient, and the cup holds a lot. It's a little trickier than it appears to spread it out without damaging them, so take your time and don't rush it like I did. It's possible that you'll do better!.
They arrived in good condition, were easy to clean (the roots were packed in gel to keep them moist), and were simple to separate and plant in small clumps. After being planted, they turned pale from shock, but recovered within 24 hours and should spread to cover the aquarium floor in no time! I don't recommend ordering during the summer months. These would likely melt into brown sludge if left in the heat for an extended period of time.
This pearlweed was a big hit with the crowd. Arrived in a timely manner and in good condition. Upon arrival, the plants were in good shape and vibrant. They've been in my tanks for quite some time and are doing extremely well (low tech). I'm very happy with my purchase because there was no melting or other issues.
It was even sitting in my P. After delivery, keep the box for a few days! br>It covered the bottom of my 8 gallon tank completely. I'm really looking forward to it spreading and carpeting the room. It'll be a hit with my new shrimp. My scuds have already done so!.
I washed the gel according to the "minimal" instructions (which don't come off at all!). I was never able to keep it in place, though. After being washed, the roots turned brown and did not recover. It floated to the top again this morning, and now the roots are rotting, and it's all falling apart. No other plants in my aquarium were in distress, so I assume the plant was already stressed when it arrived. No white was visible on the roots, which were light to dark brown in color.
