I started giving these treats to my dog about three weeks ago, and he was very happy with them. He had thrown up several times in the last few weeks, and I had noticed it. It wasn't until last night that I realized these treats were the source of the problem. Around 8 p. m. , I gave him a piece of one, and at 2 a. m. , I was startled awake by the sound of his heaving. 30 am. He puked up brownish, frothy vomit in large quantities. Also, I had given some of the treats to my sister for her dog, and when I told her about Beau Boy becoming ill, she told me that her dog had become ill and vomited after eating these treats. Both dogs are Maltese or a mix of Maltese and other breeds. I recently purchased two bags of these, but they will be discarded.
Don't get me wrong, this product is fantastic, but the batch I received was awful. DO NOT give to your dogs if the color is faded and has a greenish tint to it. It should also smell good, which this batch did not. Please be aware of the risk of giving your dogs a tainted batch of this product; hopefully, this review will assist others in avoiding any dog illnesses. Choking hazards exist in this package, and the quality varies greatly from one package to the next. When they're good, they're fantastic, but when they're bad, they're dreadful. The strips in this package are extremely thick and as tough as leather. They make my dogs choke, so I can't use them even if I tear them up into smaller pieces. The quantity is adequate for the price, and the packaging is good; however, make sure the bag is completely sealed with no air, or they will become brittle after several occasions of the bag not being completely closed; this is the only reason I gave four stars. These are a big hit with my labradoodle. I've had a hard time finding a dog food that she enjoys - She's a picky eater, dry or wet, but she adores these, so I rip one up and place it in her dry food, and she devours it. The stubborn poodle in her can make her resist commands she doesn't want to obey, but if I pull out one of these, she'll immediately do whatever I want. Is it possible that she is preparing me for something?.
And I like that I can rip them in half to not only make them last longer, but also to give him both pieces every now and then so he thinks/knows he's been a good little boy.
