Questions & Answers

Could it be useful for cats, too?

Dear Stephanie, the clicker was designed to work with dogs but can also be used with all other types of animals it depends on the animal's There's a possibility that it may work for a cat, but it all depends on what type of cat you have.

Is it effective in getting them to ?

In order to train killer whales, one must do this. Animals need to be able to understand the consistency of a click a lot easier than to decipher "yes, good boy" and "yes, that is all! " How do you pronounce "Good doggie" and "Good cat" in US English? It seems like a lot of praise is being given the same way? How would they react if they were To indicate, "yes, that's exactly what I want you to do!" All you need to do is click. It is all positive. " Clicks simply make it easier for an animal to understand and listen to you. *Search on Google under "clicker training" before starting. You can get it wrong quite easily, but it is pretty simple to do. In humans, a common behavior mistake they make is to make the lesson last far too long while training an animal. Remember that animals, especially beginners, have a short attention span, so keep lessons short, like 5 minutes, and always end on a AVOID STARTING A LESSON WHERE Your pet gets frustrated or starts to zone out. It will take you no longer than five minutes. After you complete this lesson you can repeat it as many times as you like, but each session should be short and quick because animals need breaks, too. *br>There is no SCOLDING at all, none at all. I only want positive things to happen. Each time you click, you get a treat, and keep the treats TINY and as little as you can, ya don't want a fat or a full WHAT YOU NEED TO KEEP IN MIND Are you and your pet not having fun at the same time? This is not the way you should do it. I think the most important thing is that you have fun with each other.

Can this clicker be heard by my cat when he is outside? I need a loud clicker so he can hear it when he is outside. ?

Whenever this button is clicked, a soft click is heard. For a hard click (a loud click), you should choose a box clicker by Doggone Good (The Clicker Company). I like to use the teardrop clickers inside my house since they are medium clickers. If I want to use a clicker indoors or outdoors, I prefer the box models. I would use this product when I want to train up close to my little dog (say, if I have to click next to his head) in the house. It is quite soft.

What is the truth about this?

Because it's a training tool, it calls for consistency and patience, as well as a strong reinforcer, so yes, it will work over the long term.

This cage is ergonomically designed, though it is a bit louder than my expectation, but my animals don't seem to be alarmed
5/5

The company's nbsp This little tool has so far been very impressive to me! The volume is a little louder than I anticipated it to be, although I really wasn't sure what to expect. However, my animals don't seem to be frightened by the volume either, which is the most important part. The size and ergonomics of the device are quite good. There is an elastic band on the back that is very comfortable to use, so it won't be too difficult. This is a project I can't wait to get started on!.

The champ is holding up! To train my cat, I have been using this I believe that I am giving this clicker a good workout since I have to click 10x more for a Princess Cat than a normal person would have to for a dog
5/5

Overall, it's holding up quite nicely. The spring works really well, so there's a consistent sound when it clicks. In spite of the daily grind of hourly installation and removal, the elastic strap has held its shape. In all honesty, my patience is going to run out. My resolve may have been to have a cat on the counter all of the time in my house.

The clicker has a good sound, but it is softer
5/5

There's a louder Karen Pryor in my dog's mouth - The box type and the box size There are some type clickers that are a little startling, so this one was nice-- A little quieter in sound and I like how easy it is to use with a There must be some reason why these other kinds of clickers don't come with this. During our time together, I worked on my dog's reactivity to other dogs (barking and lunging), and I taught him tricks with it. In other words, a clicker creates a snapshot of the behavior you want to reward. The reward reinforces the behavior, and the click marks the moment when the behavior was done, so you don't have to run around on ninja mode to reward your students. It is necessary to provide treats during training so that it will be effective. The same number of clicks = the same number of treats When it comes to using a clicker, I usually use it to reward spontaneous / unplanned behavior Clicking and rewarding when good behavior happens can lead to more good behavior, so you won't have to keep telling your dog to do something. When my dog lays down calmly or walks on the leash on his own, I click and reward him for it.

It is very good sound
5/5

However, it is not too loud. My goal was to find a clicker that wouldn't be too loud, since I only plan to use it indoors Unlike a drum, clickers make a very loud, metallic noise. This can come in handy if you are teaching a large animal, or if there are a lot of other sounds going on around you. Nevertheless, I was afraid a louder noise would startle or distract my girls given the fact that the little creature was in my office. As a result, I decided to try this clicker, since other reviews suggested it is quiet and has a plastic click as opposed to a metallic sound. I've been looking for something that suits my needs, and thankfully it's just the ticket! The music is certainly loud enough to be heard, but it isn't so loud as to startle. Additionally, I don't have to worry about leaving my ferrets' ears ringing if I need to use the clicker close to their ears because I know that it won't be loud enough for them to hear. It is contributing to the success of the training sessions, and this training tool plays an important role. If you want a very loud clicker, you should probably This should do the trick if you're training in a quiet area and/or have an animal that is prone to startling.

To increase likelihood of good timing, the extra money is well worth it
5/5

It has a good feel and a good click. It's neat that it has an elastic loop that I can slip my finger through when I need to click and it fits well in my hand so it's convenient to click here and there Especially early in training and doubly so if you're trying to shape a behavior, people make the biggest mistake with clicker training they click when they do the behavior, not just when they do it. Clicker failure occurs when you're trying to shape behaviors and have to fumble for it for more than It's better not to click then since you will do more harm than good. The lanyard I used to wear my laptop is the best. Because the finger loop is not secure enough if you want to keep the unit with you while doing other things, it would be nice if it came with one. I guess I'll just have to get over it. The book came with a pamphlet which explained clicker training in an extremely thorough way, but in my humble opinion Karen Pryor's unfortunately named book "Don't Shoot the Dog" is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand how clicker training works and why it does. It is understandable, but I don't think that's enough When your understanding of complex training is deep enough, you will learn how to do it. I feel this clicker has been very useful so far. It would have been nice to have it as a two The truth is, I was contemplating getting a pack (because I lose stuff), but instead I decided I'd rather have one really good clicker that will give me the best chance for good timing with minimal frustration rather than six cheapo clickers I will break. Everything seems to be going well.

The device does not have as much volume as others, but it is The company's nbsp You cannot do any tasks with both hands while using the one that is on your wrist, such as clicking when needed, since you must grab it each time
5/5

As long as I spin it to outside of palm, I can use both hands or grab something when I need to use both hands. I put it on middle finger and it is mounted on middle finger. Ideal for walks and reinforcing behaviors in the real world without adding more stuff to your bag. This may be a nice feature for some people, since the volume is lower and quieter. I found that my pup knows the difference between his own clicker and those around him, which keeps the sound valuable to him (he does not imagine that I will reward him for getting the other dogs' clicks). This is an audio comparison between the generic clicker I got from Petsmart for group classes and the clicker I used in the video. That should help a bit.

The sound is pleasant and quiet
5/5

It has been used by children up to 2 years now without any problem. It's nice that it makes a quiet sound, but I couldn't find other people who were complaining about it. This sound is much quieter and less jarring than an alarm clock, and my parrots have enjoyed learning from it. The theory that this clicker cannot be used to train a dog makes no sense to me unless the dog actually needs to be startled to pay attention (certainly true for a few dogs). Though it is likely to terrify a pooch or a cat more sensitive to it.

Clicks but does not work
3/5

After using this clicker for several years, I bought the Karen Pryor clickers as a replacement. My only complaint about the elastic finger loop is that it does not reliably click, but it seemed critical at the beginning of training for me to ensure that it worked. You have to click the button at just the right angle with just the right amount of pressure sometimes to make the button do anything and it won't make any noise. This clicker is not something I would recommend to my friends, and I definitely will not purchase it.
