In order not to let her run off too far, I trained my dog with a shock collar that had a warning tone (used the shock only once or twice, mostly the warning tone). One of the things I disliked was that the collar's battery would run out so quickly and it was difficult to remember to charge it, and finally it would completely die and would not even charge. It's good that she's a great dog and behaves well, but I'd still be worried if she saw a squirrel or another dog and ran In place of spending $100+ on a new collar, I got this remote sonic controller to see if she would react to it. She just needs to press the button once to turn right back on if she runs away from me while she's outside. While I noticed that it scared my grandma's dog who was trained with a similar collar, I couldn't beat the price either. I think the range has been excellent, slightly more than what the packaging says, although I haven't tested how far I can extend it.
Signal strength is weak. The dogs did not react in any way, and only lifted their ears a couple times when it was applied. My dog did not react in any way to the treats. bought a different brand and it works great!.
Now that my dog stops barking anytime he sees it in my hand, he doesn't bark anymore. A dog which had been chasing cats had stopped chasing them once it was given this.
Although I used it, my dog showed no reaction to it.
We purchased it 3 months ago, and it stopped working after that.
In reality, the device works only two feet to four feet away and the sound is barely audible. I've done it with five dogs and it produces the same results.
Today, we have a rescue dog that is very timid and loves to be scared when a voice is raised, so we have problems disciplining her. Our dog is less likely to bark or jump when we use this reward, and we've had great results with it! I feel that this is much more humane than shock collars, and she responds much better to it.
