Questions & Answers
There are some particularly difficult treats. They're not as flat as the greenies I used to give to my other dog. Greenies were then molded into the shape of a toothbrush. I'm not sure if anything has changed in that regard. They are effective for my current dog, who is a chewer. Her teeth have improved since she first came to me at the age of seven. They're cleaner because she doesn't have to brush her teeth. She hasn't brushed her teeth in a long time, I believe. I recommend the product to anyone who wants their teeth to be cleaner. br>br>They aren't soft, but if your dog eats quickly and swallows without chewing, these could be dangerous for it, as they could cause a digestive blockage.
Hello, Virbac VeggieDent Fr3sh Extra Small chews are 3/8" wide x 4" long x 1/8" thick, while the VeggieDent Fr3sh Small chews are 1" wide x 4" long x 14" thick. Thank you very much.
Imported from Canada is the label on my bag.
I used to order at least three medium bags per month before the prices skyrocketed. Now they're taking advantage of us, and med has shrunk to a small size. It is a rip-off in terms of pricing!

The term "regular" has been replaced by "large. " The point I'm making is that, in order to compensate for the massive price increase, they've started calling the product by different names. For the same price as a medium, I used to order regular. The size of a medium is half that of a regular! To get anything other than regular, I'd have to order large, which would cost nearly $8 more per package! These are popular with my dogs, but I'll be looking for alternatives. I'm having to buy twice as much as I used to just to get the same amount of product. Virbac, you should be ashamed of yourself.
Before giving this to my dog, I wish I had spent more time reading the critical reviews. My dog became very sick after consuming the chews for a few days. I've been vomiting several times in the last four hours, shaking, and not eating or drinking anything. She had previously experienced gastrointestinal issues, but this one was particularly severe. The medicine stopped the vomiting, but she was constipated for a while, and when she finally went to the bathroom, she had diarrhea that lasted for days. After all of this, I began reading critical reviews on this site and discovered that another dog had experienced the exact same symptoms. Our dogs are both 11 years old, which is a coincidence. br>br>My dog has had other Trader Joe's veggie chews in the past and was fine, so I can't say that all veggie chews are bad for older dogs. I see a lot of positive reviews here, so I'm not going to say that everyone should avoid this product. br>br>However, if you have an older dog and this is your first time introducing veggie chews to your dog, I would think twice about buying it.
These were fantastic, but the cost has risen to the point where they are no longer affordable.
As I've gotten smaller, I've been getting the regular chews, which they appear to be discontinuing. br>I went with the medium because the weight range is comparable. br>Comparing an old item to a new one is difficult with standard packaging.
We bought these because our dog generally dislikes dental bones, but he didn't seem to mind these. We didn't realize it was because of these for the first few weeks after we gave them to him. We simply didn't consider it because we don't distribute them on a daily basis or keep track of them. Because my dog's breath was rancid, I made the decision last week to give him one of these every day. By the fifth day, he had pooped in our room and woke us up in the middle of the night. We're on day three of bloody/mucus diarrhea, but things are starting to improve. br>br>I'm glad we now have a better understanding of what's going on, but I wish I had done a better job of combing through these reviews. It's completely logical. After doing some more research, I discovered that this brand's formula has changed, and it now contains sorbitol and chlorhexidine digluconate, both of which can cause stomach upset in dogs. That is not the case for us. We're just glad we didn't pay for an emergency vet visit before we realized what was going on.
After my little Shitzu broke a tooth on a regular rawhide chewy, my dog's dentist recommended these veggie chews. She claimed that because he has a heart condition and can no longer be put under general anesthesia for dental cleanings, they would assist him in keeping his teeth clean. He adores them, and I'm relieved that he's chewing on them. His teeth are still in good shape and he hasn't had any tartar built up on them. The only thing I don't like is that the chew stick's length has changed. I used to break them in half and give him half in the morning and half in the evening, but now they've shortened the chew stick by about 2 inches, and it's no longer long enough to half. You still get 30 chews per bag, but the product is less; the price is the same, but the product is less.
The original VeggieDent chews are given to our little girl. They are her favorite thing in the world, and they are the highlight of her day. I'm not sure if the original formula exists anymore or if it has been completely replaced by the FRESH formula. We ordered a medium-sized bag of FRESH chews, which are 2 inches smaller and possibly a little thinner than the original regular chews. We'd most likely have to order the large FRESH chews to match the regular size. br>br>The calories are my main concern with this new product. The large FRESH chews contain 105 calories per chew, compared to 3 calories per chew in the original formula. Because our girl is overweight, the original low-calorie chew was ideal, but now that it contains over 100 calories, we'll have to adjust her meals to ensure she gets her favorite treat. br>br>The original and the FRESH appear to be the same price. When compared to other daily chews, less than $1 per chew is a good price.
It would be nice if they were lower in calories. I really like these, and after using them for a month, I noticed a significant difference in my dog's teeth (I also brush her teeth with Virbac toothpaste). I've been giving her only three of them since I first started giving them to her. I had to cut back on her actual food to accommodate the 75 calories per treat (she doesn't get many treats, but she does get a fish oil supplement that adds a lot of calories, but is necessary to manage a condition she has). br>br>For the past two weeks, my dog has been suffering from a minor digestive problem (loose stool). We've been using these for several months and she's been fine since we started using them. They appear to be safe for her because she isn't a gulper, and they appear to encourage thorough chewing. Also, she appears to enjoy them, so everyone wins (except her waistline): )br>br>In addition, my dog is allergic to a variety of foods, including all poultry and oats. I'm always cautious about what I feed her, and I keep a close eye on her for several days after giving her new treats or foods. She hasn't experienced any allergic reactions as a result of these treats.
