As with any inflatable toy or pool toy, this one has a little spout. First, I cleaned the area and flared with my mouth. The flare held up while my puppy needed it, but I probably would have used an air pump in the future if the need arose. Since it was covered by fur by then, it was impossible to inflate it for two weeks.

Don't listen to complaints that it slips off. The spay surgery for my Jack Russell was completed with this product. It is a well-made product that will not come off if used properly. The reason people were complaining about the collar slipping off was that they were using it wrong, I realized after reading the reviews. A collar should be attached to the inflatable tube to keep it from slipping off the dog. In an easy way, if you just stick it on your dog's head without attaching anything to it, it will.
The dog (Labrador retriever/American Bully) was neutered recently, so this was purchased for a family member who just got it. This product seems to be a decent one and fits well. However, he was still able to lick himself, so he is now Hopefully I can figure out what went wrong in a few days and I will update it then.
That is a much nicer cone than the ones they get from the veterinarian. Despite the collar preventing getting to the wound, our dogs can do everything they are used to with it. We were looking for a soft collar for an injured puppy. I had no problems inflating it. While she wasn't happy, it was better for her than what she had been doing. As a result, she was able to sleep comfortably pillow that came with a built in cushion. It was comfortable for the pup to eat and drink. In addition to it keeping her stitches from falling out, it also kept her from tearing them.

It is unclear how effective it will be overnight for preventing licking her stitches, as she has a little more movement during the day, but for use during the day when we are at home and she is active, this product has proven very effective. Apparently she can reach her lower body, but not her abdomen. It also works to keep our other dog at a distance, since he is afraid to approach her when she wears it (which is an additional bonus, since she is not supposed to be rough with anyone else).
This cone of shame is definitely an improvement over those provided by the veterinary hospital. The incision site is locked in place so eating and normal activities are not disrupted, while still allowing more range of motion for your fingers. I highly recommend this product.
The quality of the product is great, however, the seller does not provide accurate measurements for buyers to choose an appropriate size. The seller claims the size medium fits dogs with neck circumferences of 12"- 14". The size I purchased was 13 as the circumference of my dog's neck measures 13 inches. Yet, even though she is 5'5" and the collar is pulled the tightest it can be, it slips right off her neck. This is not available to me at the moment. It's really a bummer for me.
