It's waxy rather than greasy. It has the consistency of a waxy cream and absorbs quickly. It's possible that the licking has made the nose dry.
"We didn't use an SPF number because we don't want to associate with human sunscreen," according to the FAQ on the mydognoseit website. Our product is made to shield you from the sun's and the environment's harmful rays, as well as to heal and moisturize your skin.
I don't think it's waterproof, but if you reapply every 30 minutes or so, it should be fine. Your pit should be secure in 60 minutes.

According to the Environmental Working Group, this product contains Oxybenzone (which, when absorbed into the skin, acts like estrogen) and Octinoxate (which is allergenic and may affect the thyroid). (EWG. org) It was my fault for purchasing something without an ingredient list, but I'm returning it to Amazon and spreading the word!br>br>Ingredients: Octinoxate USP, Oxbenzone USP, Carnauba wax, corn starch, Ethylhexlyl Stearate, Hydrogenated Castor oil, Ozokerite, Rincinus communins seed oil (castor oil), Schhinziophyton rautanerii (Mongongo) oil, silica, sorbitan sesquioleate, talc, sorbitan sesquioleate.
EVER. Obviously, I've never purchased sunscreen for a dog. But this is ideal because he is extremely pink, particularly on his face, so I use it around his eyes (it does not run, so no worries) and on his nose. If we're going to be outside all day, like at the lake or the beach, I reapply every 2 hours or so. Throughout the day, three times. He hasn't had any sunburn or peeling since I purchased this product, which makes me a very happy mother! The container is a little on the small side, but it goes a long way!.
The vet had tried a variety of medications to help his scabbing, peeling nose, but none of them had worked. I bought it on a whim and have been using it every day since. In less than a month, his nose has almost 100% healed. I can't say he had a sunburned nose; it had been referred to as sunburn and/or "collie nose," but whatever the case, this stuff worked wonders. I first purchased the small jar, then returned to purchase the larger jar! Just wanted to point out that a little goes a long way. This product has exceeded my expectations! The photo depicts the last little scab. His entire snout, both sides and top, was covered in black scabs before he used this lotion. It would peel and be raw at that point. This is no longer the case.
My American Bulldog puppy has pink skin and sparse fur on his nose, brows, and ears, which is a common problem with bully breeds in general. And, like me (a pale Irishman), he burns in the summer sun in an instant! br>br>A thin coat of this, applied with the pad of my thumb, glides through the fur and protects my blue-green eyes. buddy with a pair of eyes We walk and go to the store a lot because he's 6 months old and training to be my mobility service dog. This small container will keep him from getting sunburned all summer. I'm not sure how long the sunscreen has been on the shelf. When we run out of the smaller size, I plan to purchase the larger size. br>br>One quick note: this product was so effective that a family friend now uses it on a daily basis on her pink-haired daughter. Arabian gelding with a tanned hide. If it works for a horse who spends his days in the sun, it should work for a dog as well.
After a few months of suffering from a bad discoloration on my Pitt mix dog, I decided to purchase this ointment. Her nose continued to discolor and flare out with the sun after one biopsy and one month of antibiotics, to the point where it looked like it was alive: This tiny jar has come in handy on numerous occasions. I can't say her nose is completely healed, and I'm still not sure what's wrong with it, but it looks so much better since I started putting this ointment in her nose every time she goes outside. When she is outside, her natural dark color returns to a large portion of her nose and does not flare. )br> I'm not sure if her nose will fully heal, but she's doing a lot better. I'll buy it again! br>br>.
I'm coming back. First and foremost, this did not work on my pit's white nose; she remains burnt. Second, the photos make the tub appear much larger than it actually is. It's ridiculous to pay $15 for something that's the size of a chapstick tub. I'm going to use kid-friendly language once more. safe lotion and spray (for dogs, this is the only formula that is safe). By the way, you should use (kid formula sunscreen) on your dog's belly, even if it doesn't have white skin on its face, because the sun reflects off the grass and burns their belly. My veterinarian provided me with this information. (I assume long-haired dogs are exempt from this because their bellies are protected. ) Finally, dogs with white skin can develop cancer, which is why I'm so dissatisfied with this product. So, if you even have a passing interest in your dog, avoid using this product.
This sunscreen is fantastic! My white dog's nose burns, and it's difficult to find a good, dog-friendly sunscreen. Most have a low sun protection factor (SPF) and many have added scents, which is a bad idea for dogs. They're too nose-driven, and anything with a strong odor will drive them away. With other sunscreens, I had to keep a cone on my dog for at least 20 minutes until it dried. She'd try to get them off even if she couldn't. This one has almost no odor, and she quickly forgets about it after 5 minutes. br>br>It spreads easily, is clear, and does not leave a greasy residue. She hasn't burned since I've been using it, and it keeps her nose hydrated. Yes, it's a small jar with a high price tag, but it's well worth it! I would strongly suggest it.
Her nose became dry, cracked, and bloody inside her nostrils over the course of a year. It appeared to be excruciatingly painful and incapable of retaining any moisture. Infection, food allergies, plant allergies, sunburn, and so on were all possibilities, but none of them proved to be the issue. I took her to the doctor, where she was diagnosed with lupus, given pills (which didn't work), and told to lather up with vitamin E (which also didn't work). br>I eventually came across this and began experimenting with it. Unlike most people, I did not make a quick transition. It took a few months for sure. Even though she isn't using it as often as she should, her nose is healing. Every day, her black, moist skin regrows a little more, and she appears to be much more at ease. I strongly advise you to do so. The waxiness sticks to their nose and is difficult to lick off like a cream or oil, and a small amount goes a long way. So, even with such a small bottle, it lasts much longer than you might expect. Before and after photos are included, so it's well worth the money.
