It's a better idea to measure your dog's height from neck to floor, then add 2 inches. This should provide you with the required collar DIAMETER size. My dog was only 13 inches from beck to floor (he weighs 13 pounds). We needed an extra large, which I couldn't believe! br>br>We bought three before realizing what was going on, but I'm glad we did because my dog was so happy and comfortable, and it worked! If you get a size that is too small, the dog will be able to reach the incision from his surgery, so if you're not sure, buy two sizes (and return the other one once you've tried it on).
The medium size collar is 4 inches wide, with a 14-inch open neck. My dog's neck measures 14 inches, so I ordered a Medium despite the fact that the picture stated that a large should be used. Take a 4" measurement around his neck and see what you find. If necessary, the neck can be tightened with a cord.
It works well for me and my puppy. He only weighs 15 lbs. According to the size chart, it is suitable for dogs weighing less than 27 pounds. I'm not sure it'll hold up against a 90-pound dog.

collar. I ordered both a small (gray) and a medium (navy) size for my dog because I couldn't decide which would be the best fit for her. br>br>My dog is a 5-year-old female. It was for her post-spay recovery that she was given a pound Maltese. Both fit her well, but I decided to keep the medium and return the small because I wanted to make sure she couldn't lick the incision site. br>br>It worked perfectly. The item was light, soft, and pleasant to wear. It was worn full-time by my dog for seven days. It bothered her even when she was eating and sleeping, but she was unconcerned about it.
I can't express how fantastic this item is. It literally saved my life. My poor dog needed to wear the dreaded cone because he had a wound on his back foot. He didn't have to wear the hard cone from the vet because we had a black soft cone left over from another pet. My poor buddy, on the other hand, sat in the kitchen and refused to move when I put on his black soft cone. For more than two hours. He sat and sat and sat and sat and sat and After that, the crying began. He couldn't eat or drink with it, couldn't jump on furniture with it, and when attempting to jump off the couch, he fell flat on his face. We needed to make things right for him because he was unhappy. Well, we came across this cone and decided to give it a shot, and what a difference it made. It made him incredibly happy. He jumps up on the couch with it, eats and drinks with it, and he can see through it, so he's happier. He weighs 20 pounds and has a 15-and-a-half-inch neck. I think I got him a medium, the one that goes up to a little over 15 inches, and it fit him perfectly. Because he was so close to the top measurements, I didn't have to adjust the drawstring. It would, however, have been simple to accomplish. This made him so happy, and it worked out perfectly. He attempted to retrieve his foot but was unable to do so and eventually gave up. This cone served as a pillow for him. I'm thinking about getting some more to give as gifts. This may sound absurd, but it provided comfort to our dog. For the two days we waited for this one, he was so depressed by the previous version. When my other dogs had surgeries in the past, I used a soft cone and donut, but they were still miserable. I found this while browsing Amazon. I went with the XL because, despite her weight of 11 pounds, she is quite tall. It is a perfect fit. She appears to be far more at ease than she would be in a donut or a cone. It's as if she's wearing a pillow around her neck. I like how it moves with her body and that she can eat and drink comfortably while wearing it.
The first time we used the calm cone, it was a disaster. He couldn't lift his head because it was too heavy. So I visited the veterinarian and obtained the dreaded plastic clear cone. That worked a little better, but not a whole lot better. He was still unable to move or walk in it. This morning, we received the Aarf cone. I put it on him, and there you have it! He's in a good mood. We tried a medium and a large, and the large is the best fit for his size; the medium fit fine, but I could tell he wouldn't be able to reach the incision site because the cone's diameter/width wasn't wide enough for his size. br>br>Right now, he's sleeping and clearly looks comfortable.
This is a lot cuter and more comfortable for my toy poodle than the traditional e-collar. collar. However, there are some flaws in the design. Because the collar was a little too narrow for a yogi (flexible) dog, it might not always work depending on where you want to keep your dog from licking. My dog was still able to reach her back paws and lower back while wearing this, even though she couldn't reach her stomach. When I put this on her for a small cut on her foot that she wouldn't stop licking, I noticed that she could still lick it easily. Given how adorable and comfortable it is for my dog, I gave it a four-star rating. However, just a friendly reminder that this will not take the place of your e-mail. This is a much more comfortable alternative to the dreaded plastic cone, though it could be wider. After our 10-pound schnoodle's spay surgery, we've been using this. If you're buying it for a spay, keep in mind that my dog was able to get to her incision with a little wiggling. The soft material is comfortable, but she's pushed it to the side a few times and gotten to the spot we've been trying to keep her away from, so proceed with caution. Make sure you keep a close eye on your dog at all times, and consider using the plastic cone overnight if necessary.
We've got a 9-pounder on our hands. Pomeranian who had just had her incision spayed and required an ecollar to keep her from licking it. We tried some other ecollars, but they were terrible. This ecollar is absolutely amazing. It has a soft round sock around the neck, which prevents it from digging into our dog's neck like other hard ecollars. It's also the ideal size, as it's not too big for our dog to eat, drink, or sleep comfortably. It's big enough, though, to keep her from licking her wound. I wish I'd known about this ecollar before we spayed and neutered our other pets. The investment is well worth it.
Other "donuts" had irritated his neck and ears, so we stopped eating them. This is the ideal solution-- I love the soft collar and sleeve. He is completely unconcerned about it. It shields him from harm while also allowing him to do what he wants.
