My dog's toe nail is cut with this when I use it. As soon as you place it on the nail, it will stop the bleeding as if it had been cut off by the quick. As far as scratches or cuts go, I have not used it.
In my opinion, it says for animals only due to the price there are styptic powders you can buy for shaving cuts, but they cost much more per 1/4 oz, which is about $3 to $5. It is the same ingredient in the human products as in the food that we eat. Alum blocks are available for purchase for use after shaving that contain potassium aluminum sulfate, also known as alum. In addition to bentonite and diatomaceous earth, other clays are used in human products as well. This product contains no ingredients that would make it unsuitable for human consumption. Since ammonium chloride is used in food and medicine, it does not pose any health risks to humans. For nicks in my shave, I plan on ordering some. Purchasing one of these will probably last me a lifetime. I can probably divide it among my brother and father and still have it last a lifetime (I still use the first styptic pencil I bought to shave with) .
That's all right. To stop bleeding, you would use this powder. Imagine that I cut a dog, cat, or rabbit's toenail all the way to the quick and it bled. In the case of your dog biting himself, I would think your pet needs steroid shots and some kind of treatment. This could be the result of an allergy or a nerve problem. I'm still very satisfied with it. In my ignorance, I had no idea that this powder was so strong it could My hands were soiled and I used a gently used washcloth to clean it up. Put the cloth in the wash and then let it dry. There were holes in the cloth where the powder had been when I removed it from the washer. As a result, I was shocked by the amount of damage it caused.
