Hartz Flea and Tick Collars are effective for killing and controlling fleas and ticks on your pet when used according to the package directions. Please keep in mind that our flea collars do not prevent fleas and ticks from landing on your pet, nor do they prevent your pet from becoming reinfested each time it enters a pest-infested area. It works through contact, which means that fleas or ticks must bite/feed off the pet for the collar to work; fleas or ticks will not be killed simply by landing on the pet. I bought four of these for my small dogs, and three of them have had no reaction at all. The fourth, on the other hand, has a potentially fatal response. She was acting strange for a few days after I put it on her, then one evening when I got home, she wouldn't eat, or rather, she would take a bite and then run around, and this happened several times. She was trembling and wired, unable to sleep or relax, disoriented and spacey, and refused to come to me, instead pacing the room in circles. Her eyes were glossy and leaky, and it was awful. I realized the only thing I'd changed was the collar, so I removed it and threw it away. The next day, she was better, and the next day, she was back to herself! Thankfully, I did some research and discovered that the medication was the cause of her seizure. However, as I previously stated, the other three animals are unaffected, so I just want it to be known that it COULD be dangerous to some animals.
She wore it for a few hours before having seizures, so I looked it up and immediately removed it and gave her a bath to remove the chemicals. It's been almost two days and she's had 20 seizures. I'm in such a bad mood right now!.
The dog appeared to be scratching himself all of the time; Fleas could be the source of the problem. This collar was purchased to help with a flea infestation. It appears that the collar is working. He isn't scratching nearly as much as he used to. There were no fleas visible on a visual inspection.
Tick prevention is the goal of this product. That is not the case. I noticed a tick on my dog's ear about an inch away from the collar after he had worn it for a week. It had obviously been there for a while. Look at the image. This isn't going to work.
Within 12 hours of putting them on their necks, one cat, as well as one of our larger dogs, was throwing up and lethargic. The only thing that changed was the variable. Just keep in mind that it might be too much for your pets. Our canine companion is even worse than the feline companion. She's sluggish, hasn't eaten in a long time, has stomach problems, and generally appears to be in a bad mood. It's possible that you'll need to take her to the veterinarian. I read a lot of articles about pets eating them and becoming poisoned, but my pets were simply wearing them. It may have worked for a lot of business owners, but it didn't work for us. I took off all of the collars and discarded them. Please be aware of the potential problems with this product; the lives of your pets aren't worth it.
I was forced to discard it. Seizures have been linked to wearing the collar, according to the veterinarian.
It's been about 6 weeks since I put this on my dog. (This is well within the "up to 7 months" period of supposed efficacy. ) ) I just finished a 20-minute pull. She had 30 ticks removed from her body. And several of them had gathered RIGHT NEXT TO THE FLEA/"TICK" COIL! What makes you think that? To be honest, I'd like to contact the manufacturer, but I can't seem to find a way to do so on Amazon, so I'm just going to leave this review. I bought it because it was so cheap, but it's incredible. It makes no difference how much less you pay for something that doesn't appear to work at all. (At least, not in the case of ticks. ) To be fair, I didn't notice any fleas on her, so it might work. ) I would not recommend this if you live in a wooded area where ticks are a problem.
This collar caused such a severe allergic reaction in my 6-month-old puppy that his entire neck area is bright pink and blood red. I'm sitting here right now, December 31st, 2021, wondering if he'll make it by January 1st. In the year 2022, he is still having severe seizures, is delusional, and confused. It is sad to say, but I may have to put him to sleep. To make matters worse, someone got my information from Amazon and contacted me posing as a claims rep, claiming that your product had severely injured my puppy.
