It was exactly what I expected. I prefer these vests to the old "as seen on TV" ones because they are well-made and include padding. This style is comfortable for my dachshunds and does not pinch them. The smaller one was just under 19 inches in diameter, while the larger one was slightly larger. I ordered two Mediums, which were a perfect fit for both of them. They wore them for the entire afternoon and even napped in them. br>When it comes to putting them on, my dogs are ecstatic to see their harness. My dogs sit up as soon as I put my hands through the armholes. I make sure their little legs are tucked into the holes, then lower them to the floor as I wrap the vest around them. After that, snap the buckle and close the velcro. It only takes a few seconds to get them dressed.

For my 18-pound cat, I went with a medium. It fits well, and I believe I could have gone down a size. Because the buckle and everything is a little bulky for a cat, I deducted one star. But, after all, it is a harness designed primarily for dogs. I like the support it provides him, and I think it's better for him than those with thinner straps because it puts less strain on his joints, particularly his shoulders. He appears to prefer walking alongside me rather than going wherever he pleases, as he did with his previous Come With Me Kitty harness. I could tell it threw him off for a day or two, but he quickly adjusted. He could get out once because the front neck area was too big for him, but I secured the Velcro in a more diagonal fashion, tighter near his head, and he is now more secure. If you're an inch or two away from the next size, like I was, I'd recommend going down a size. The buckle isn't adjustable, which would be more convenient and secure if it were (especially if the harness is a little too big). Your neighbors will still make fun of you for walking your cat while wearing this harness. The item arrived in good condition.
