Because the harness has two rings on which to hook your leash, you can use a standard leash: One is placed beneath the neck/chest area, and the other is placed on top.
I'm a 19-pound woman. I had to get a small for my 19" chest Havanese/Bichon mix because he kept slipping out of the part that goes around his head. They seem a little large to me. They adjust in four places: one around each side of the neck, one on each side of the chest, and one on each side of the chest. I believe a medium will fit you in the Barkbay brand; they have measurement and size charts to make sure.
I believe so, but it depends on the size of the shirt. My dog is half-Pitbull, and it fits him perfectly.

The metal d ring on the back of the harness broke after only two months, allowing my dog to run away in the busy city. My dog is a rescue and gets scared easily, so I had to spend three hours with the help of six other people looking for her. This harness isn't strong enough to keep my dog from being hit by a car or being kidnapped.
The only thing I'd add is that this isn't for chubby ladies! The large was stretched as far as it could go around her waist and was still a little snug, but it was very loose in the front and needed tightening. I have a slightly chonky 70 lb pitbull, and the large was stretched as far as it could go around her waist and was still a little snug, but it was very loose and needed tightening. I'd have to adjust it after she pulled to the side, but I'm not sure if that was because of the harness or because it wasn't tight enough to stay put.
My 20-pound French bulldog pulls like a horse, making our walks difficult and exhausting for both of us. My dog still tried to pull with this harness, but she was immediately yanked back or to the side, effectively stopping her. It simply astounds me. I didn't think a harness would be able to accomplish this. Before I found this one, I tried three different no-pull harnesses, none of which worked or fit well. This one fits perfectly (I ordered a Small). Adjusting the straps was a little difficult at first, but once I did, it was perfect. So far, it appears to be quite durable. I'm not sure how it would work with larger dogs, but it's worked wonderfully for mine so far!.
Until I got this, leash training my French Bulldog was a nightmare. We've had it for about three weeks, and while I can't say he doesn't still pull, he does stop resisting when I pull back. I'm so happy I purchased it! It's now a lot more fun to take him for a walk!.
My wife and I bought this harness so she could pick-up the kids from school. To get our 22-pound dog into the car, we had to pick him up by the handle. In contrast to most harnesses, she liked the idea of the handle being oriented longitudinally. Unfortunately, no adult can reach the handle with her hand (or even more than two fingers). Although the concept is sound, the design is dreadful. br>br>We've returned the harness to Amazon and received a complete refund.
We have a 55-pound rescue pitbull mix who is quite strong, dog reactive, and a real puller, especially when greeting strangers on walks. I'm in my mid-sixties and not as strong as I once was, so I need to be able to deal with her. Because I have rings on the top and chest, I can use a two-clip leash, and the handle adds an extra layer of security if I need it. This harness is adjustable and comfortable (she didn't say, but it doesn't seem to pinch or rub where it shouldn't) and fits over her winter coat. She rolls a lot on walks, and it stays in place and cleans up nicely. The reflective trim is a plus for me. I went with black to match her coats, and I'll probably get another color for summer (yes, we're that type of couple). ) And who knows, maybe one for the spring and fall seasons as well. None of the photos I've taken do a great job of displaying the harness.
Outstanding craftsmanship! My husky/shepherd mix wore it like a space suit. I think it's super cute, and I'm sure she's at ease in it. I used to use a Petsafe Easy Walk harness, but it irritated her front legs. That is not the case with this one. People assumed I had spent a significant amount of money on it. For a good harness, this is an excellent price. br>However, keep in mind that this harness twists if your dog pulls a lot.
I had to return it because it was a little too big for my dog and the handle was only wide enough for two fingers, which was not what was shown in the picture. My entire goal was to have a handle that would allow me to quickly pick up my little sweetie and get him to the car if needed. I really wanted it to work because it was so beautiful and well-made. The straps could not be adjusted to the extent that I required, despite the fact that the sizing chart recommended it.
