Questions & Answers

Are you convinced that my 100-word essay is accurate? With this ramp, a 100-pound golden retriever could get into the back seat of a Ford F150 crew cab?

Without a doubt. My 98 lb. This ramp allows our German Shepherd to enter our SUV as well as my husband's extended cab GMC truck. At first, you'll need some coaching and direction. She was hesitant to use it the first few times, but now that she sees us erect it, she stands at the bottom and waits - Because of the angle, we always keep our hands on her collar; just make sure she doesn't walk over the edge.

Is it possible to use an old husky in a Subaru Outback?

I own a Subaru Forester and a Norwegian Elkhound that is over ten years old. This ramp is perfect for us! But let me tell you something: It's all about the angle. This ramp's specifications can be found by clicking here. in particular, the length Then measure the angle between the back of your Outback and the ground with a stiff tape measure or something of equal length. You'll be able to determine whether or not your dog is capable of handling it this way. br>There's also a world of dog ramps out there, with different widths and lengths. lengths. Perhaps your dog requires a longer one (with a lower angle). ) You'll have to figure it out on your own. Greetings. br>

Is it possible to leave this outside in the rain in Florida?

I'm not sure about Florida, but we live in the Pacific Northwest, and I've had it in the back of my pickup for the past three years and it's still in excellent condition. It rains a lot here in the winter and it gets cold, plus it gets hot in the summer, and I haven't had any issues with it cracking or warping, and the traction surface hasn't peeled off at all.

How does the ramp keep its grip on the ground? This is something I'm considering for my boat's dive platform so my dog can enter and exit the water. ?

My dog's pads were too abrasive for the sandpaper surface, so I covered it with velcro and carpet for traction. In water, that would be impossible. In addition, I've discovered that the ramp slips around where its edge rests on the tailgate, requiring me to hold it steady. For a boat, this would be ineffective. Slippery even more. br>PS. Choose something with good rubber feet. If your dog weighs less than 40 pounds, better rubber grips on the ramp's "boat end" should suffice.

Not a very stable situation
3/5

Because of the lack of consistency, I'm giving it one star. The ramp begins to sag and is very shaky if it is not supported in the middle under the hinge. I've noticed that the ramp is broken in the same spot in several reviews. To avoid breakage, it appears that the plastic in these areas needs to be thicker. It won't make it more stable; only something beneath the hinge will. I've also noticed that our dog refuses to climb the ramp. Our dog is now easily able to walk up the stairs after the addition of bright colored towels. I wouldn't buy it again until the problems are fixed. For a 110 Chocolate Lab, it's a win-win situation! It's very light (I can lift it with one hand), folds easily, and takes up very little space in my car
4/5

For better traction, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND replacing the sandpaper-like "traction" covering with carpet. My dog was trying to climb a steep Emory board, and the sandpaper was giving him no help. I went to Home Depot and had a 6' x 1' piece of indoor-outdoor carpet cut for me. I cut the outdoor Berber carpet into two 3-foot sections. To allow for the fold, cut the foot lengths in half. Removed the sandpaper (which was easily removed) and secured the carpet with double-sided tape. carpet tape on one side Before allowing my dog to use it, I let it sit for 24 hours. This is what we worked on during our training. I would give it 5 stars if it had a carpeted surface. This is effective. br>br> It didn't take long for my dog to get used to it. Others advised me, so I followed their advice. Indoors, on a flat surface, with only treats as bribes, we began our training. Then I graduated to a curb height and used it on my Ford Explorer, forcing him to come down first (treats included). We get off to a quick start when I pick him up, and I just hold his collar to guide him straight up the ramp. He's a colossal 10-foot tall man. year- getting in with an old chocolate lab It was becoming difficult to get out of the car. He found it difficult, especially when he had to jump down. He no longer wants to try to get in or out without the ramp, so it was a total success! And he's still expecting treats, but he's a Lab, so what do you expect? > ) Take a look at the photos to see how I improved the cover. And look at the happy face of the dog who uses it on a daily basis!.

VERY DANGEROUS! Use at your own risk
3/5

I bought this to help my three-year-old 80-pound Chocolate Lab get into and out of my Cadillac Escalade, so he wouldn't hurt his hips and joints jumping in and out. br>br>I keep it in my trunk at all times; and secure it so it doesn't move or slide. br>br>Before it broke, the ramp had only been used 50 times. Unfortunately, the ramp had broken while our dog was attempting to walk up it (the entire disaster was captured on our security cameras), and he had injured his leg as a result of the fall. We had to take him to the vet because he had been limping for days. They were adamant that it was a torn or fractured front ligament - We were fortunate, however, that he had stopped limping a few days before his X-ray appointment. Rays. Since then, we've kept him calm and relaxed because we want to make sure he's fully recovered before allowing him to run or play again. Don't let your dog go through the same ordeal. This ramp is a TERRIBLE hazard. Since then, we've only used foam or sturdy stairs.

This is the ideal way for us to get our older dog into our crossover
4/5

This is the ideal way for us to get our older golden retriever into our crossover vehicles - We decided on a ramp as a precaution because she can easily jump in and out. However, we made the following change, as stated in previous reviews: I peeled away the non-stick sandpaper. (Which it most likely is, but it will also abrade the dog's pads to the point of being completely self-destructive) a loss! ), and artificial turf has been installed in its place. I used a double-spaced font. It's a double-sided indoor/outdoor fiberglass carpet tape that works perfectly! We have turf in our back yard because we live in a drought-stricken area. She didn't hesitate to go up the ramp, despite the fact that California had been devastated. I only wish Solvit had used textured outdoor carpet or turf instead of the sandpaper material for the ramp's surface. Also, when replacing the lower portion of the ramp with whatever material you choose, make sure to leave enough space to overlap the hinge so there is no gap when the ramp is open.

It works, but I had to make some changes
4/5

This method is effective - with some alterations (A photo is included. ) ) My 14-year-old dog, who has arthritis and whose legs aren't as strong as they once were, can walk down this ramp instead of careening down the three steps to the backyard. It was difficult to watch her struggle to keep from falling down the stairs on her face. I removed the black emory sheet and replaced it with a Home Depot carpet remnant. Because smooth carpet can be too slippery, make sure it has texture or ridges of some sort. Another user recommended taping it to the ramp with carpet tape. It worked perfectly, but be sure to get DOUBLE SIDED carpet tape. The carpet is more comfortable for her to grip than the rough sandpaper surface that came with it. I also believe that the brighter carpet color is easier for her to see than the black, making her feel more at ease while using this ramp. She's about five feet tall and weighs about fifty pounds. 35 lbs. Because using this ramp on three steps seemed too steep, I decided to only use it on two. The crease is: br>br> I had no idea she'd try to avoid the middle of the ramp by taking shortcuts. She went over the edge, caught her back paws on the edge, and crashed into the concrete below before I could stop her. She also trips when she tries to cut the corner at the bottom of the ramp. So, at the base of one corner, I placed a heavy potted plant to prevent her from tripping over the ramp's edge. In addition, I had to set up patio chairs on one side of the ramp and the other side of the ramp. I put the ramp in its box, which was made of plastic and terra-cotta. She's essentially funneled onto the ramp and prevented from jumping off the sides by the terra cotta planters. I put a carpet floor mat at the top of the stairs to give her traction, and a rubber mat at the bottom of the ramp to keep the ramp from scooting on the concrete if she falls. It doesn't appear to be very appealing - But it works, and having this ramp has made me feel a lot less worried about her.
