Scales such as this one were purchased for cats, primarily for those who are trying to lose weight. As far as I am concerned, this scale has pros and cons. large flat surface provides enough room for the animal to lie down on in case it wants to. It is also low enough to fit under the coffee table or couch if you need to store it. I would say the weight is ten pounds or so There is no need for lifting because it weighs only 12 pounds. There is a problem with my scale, as anything being weighed has to be off the scale for it to work. You will need to hold whatever you are weighing as long as possible after pressing the hold button in order to get an accurate It is not practical for me to weigh him every time since he moves around a lot, so I usually weigh him three or four times for an average. The reason for having to remove him from the scale each time is that he has to stand up each time. Smaller cats are easier to read, but they tend to move around as well, so I also have to take more than one reading on them.

There are four big dogs in my household and they don't go to the vet often enough for me to count on a scheduled vet visit. So it's a huge hassle loading up all four at the vet for weighing in. brought them all to the vet for a weigh-in, a couple of dogs (not mine) turned on their backs as soon as they saw us I had the worst experience during that visit. In search of a home scale after trying the "weigh myself, pick up the dog, and weigh together" method, I began to weigh myself and my dog together. I love this scale because my dogs fit nicely on it. The average weight of each of them is 65 lbs. It didn't matter how much they weighed, as they all fit on the scale. There is not enough room for a Mastiff or Great Dane (I have friends with these breeds), but it is the perfect size for a Labrador, Border Collie, or other medium/large dog. The only warning is that the scale doesn't freeze on a weight like a vet's office scale, so as long as your dog is moving, the scale will move too. It doesn't deserve a lower rating because the time it saves me is too great to give it a lesser mark. This scale is one of my favorites. I have used it on a weekly basis for well over a year. A great user interface and accurate results make it an invaluable tool. Buying one for my friend to use in her service dog program was a great idea. As well as her, she loves it.
