No, I am not sure what to do. One of my children is one year old Hers fits perfectly on a little Maltese who weighs less than 40 pounds. Her favorite thing in the world and she acts like a diva princess as she runs around from place to place. She loves how snug it is, but she knows she won't grow out of it.
I would appreciate it if you would wash it by hand in cool water without drying it.
