The picture shows an example. Reading the reviews on this sweater it was difficult to determine what size is right for me so I took a photo of him. He is a chihuahua terrier mix and I ordered the 10-inch size. As you can see from the photo, it is a little loose on him and I think he might be able to get out of it so I would recommend ordering a size smaller. These sweaters look great on cats as well! Both of my (approx 9 pound) cats fit into the 10 inch size. I don't like how tight it is. There may be advantages to a bigger size in terms of slipping on and off more easily.
