It would have been helpful if I had reviewed the safety warnings of other reviews before buying There is definitely no safety in using this product. When my cat was playing with it, she chewed off a piece and swallowed it before we noticed. The fabric is fragile, so it was very easy for her to swallow a piece. Next day, she started vomiting badly, and she was completely inactive for the rest of the morning. After taking her to the vet, she was taken to the ER because her condition became worse and she was sent immediately to the ICU. A scan, an ultrasound, and x-rays) indicated that the vomiting was due to intestine blockage, and her only choice was to perform the surgery immediately. There are negative reviews on Amazon and I am amazed they are still selling it! I wish I had read them instead of the positive reviews. Please follow up on my initial review now! Due to the generosity of a wonderful veterinarian, I was able to get rid of it without the use of an X-ray I thought my cat was going to die, but this could have been prevented with x-rays or surgery! It's very disappointing to find this item still for sale on Amazon.
This material can easily be torn and it is a choking hazard. She chewed it and ate it and when she had about a 6 inch piece down her throat and it was almost broken, she would have swallowed the entire piece. There needs to be a stronger material used in this product. There could have been major health problems as a result. This fabric is like nothing else in her possession none of her other toys are chewed on, so it must be something about it that appeals to them. After hearing horror stories about people having to get surgery on their cats to remove this from their stomachs, I would use a different material and not recommend this product anymore!.
The reviews were bad! I wish I had read them. Despite the fact that my three cats loved playing with this toy, it is not a toy that I should have left unattended. As she choked, one of my cats chewed a large chunk of the cat food off and vomitted the chunk back up. Despite the scary experience, I'm still worried about the fact that there may still be some left inside her stomach. Having read these bad reviews, I am now aware that others have experienced a similar experience with even worse outcomes. Definitely keep it locked away from them when not in use when purchasing it, but if you absolutely must purchase it, don't. The risk isn't worth it.
