This is the best cat toy I've ever seen
5/5

When I first saw one of these about 20 years ago, I immediately thought it was the best cat toy I'd ever seen. It's just a coiled wire with little bits of cardboard on either end, but when you move or twist it, the cardboard on the other end flutters like a moth. (We refer to it as "Mothie. ") ) Every cat I've tried it with is instantly enthralled, even those who aren't interested in catnip mice, feather toys, string toys, or laser toys. Every day, my partner's cat comes over to where it is and looks at me as if to say, "OK, let's play Mothie," and other toys simply do not compare. Her previous cat was difficult to entice to play, but he was obsessed with chasing down any flying insects that entered the house. When I gave her one of these, her eyes lit up and she wanted to play right away. br>br>I think that's why cats' eyes light up when they see it: the tension in the wire seems just right to allow different types of movement depending on how you hold it – bobbing up and down, swishing from side to side, or (if you twist it just right) fluttering like a real flying insect. It appears to be a genuine insect in need of capture. It's surprisingly durable for a piece of wire and some cardboard. It'll keep you entertained for months if you use it every day. I expected a cat to rip the cardboard to shreds in no time, but it appears to be quite tough. The wire will eventually lose some of its bounce, or the cardboard bits will separate and slide up the string, making it appear dead. However, replacing it is inexpensive and can be done in a three-step process. pack. br>br>How you whip it around is something I'd be wary of. You don't have to thrash it around a lot to get the cat's attention, and the wire is stiff enough to sting the cat if you accidentally slap it with it. The motion of the curved wire is also a little unpredictable, and I've accidentally hit both myself and the cat in the face with it a few times, so I try to avoid hitting either of us in the eye. And don't yank it out of the cat's claws or mouth because it's wire, not soft yarn or string. br>br>Experiment with different motions – small twists with the fingers, holding the curve of the wire at various angles – to see what produces realistic motions that your cat responds to. It's difficult to predict how it'll move, but with a little practice, you'll be able to create a variety of felitropic motions. br>br>This is a "chase and catch" toy, so if your cat likes to chew or tear at its "catch," you'll want to have another toy on hand, as there's not much to bite and it's too small to grab with all fours; however, the cat I use it with is content to stalk off to the other side of the room and prepare for another running pounce. If you know a cat who has lost interest in his or her toys, you should give this one a try.

LOVE! Our nine-month-old Russian Blue mix loves to play fetch with anything she can get her hands on, but this is her new favorite toy (she'll even carry it in her mouth if we let her)
5/5

Following Azazel's lead, our seven-year-old boy has begun to play with the Cat Dancer as well. br>br>The movement of this toy is similar to that of a flying insect in mid-flight. I've seen cat acrobatics I didn't know were possible, and our little one can't resist the urge to chase it down. This is the ideal toy for wearing down your kitten or adolescent before you go to bed, especially if you have the type of cat who needs your attention all night. Try it. It works. br>br>The Cat Dancer is made of simple, cat-friendly materials. Materials that are safe to use include Steel wire and cardboard are used, with the wire looped back at the ends to protect the eyes of cats and humans. While no toy is 100% safe in the hand of an unsupervised pet (I’ve seen x- ray images of some truly bizarre objects ingested by cats and dogs), I'm not concerned that one of our cats will "accidentally" get to this one while we're away. br>br>Great toys don't have to be expensive, and I can't stress how important this is!.

These are very popular among cats
5/5

These have always been a favorite of mine, so I brought them up to the animal shelter where I volunteer, and they were a big hit. You can use each end to play with cats in two different kennels (or two different cats at home) at the same time. The only drawback is that the cardboard isn't the most durable and will eventually fall apart; additionally, if you're doing them at a kennel, sterilizing them in between uses may be difficult (we use sanitizing wipes, which contributes to the cardboard's rapid deterioration). This toy piqued the interest of some of our more reserved felines, and it's entertaining to observe multiple sets of eyes from across the room.

Favorite Toy of Kitty - This is by far our @qwurkle_cat's favorite toy because it keeps her entertained for hours
5/5

When we get the kitty dancer out, she abandons whatever she was doing previously (playing with something else, sitting on her favorite human, sleeping, eating, etc. ) to play with the dancer. br>br>She will play with us while we play with the toy, or she will play with the toy on her own if we toss it on the floor for her. She sometimes spins around, or carries it off as "prey," or flips it. flops around with it or chases after it all over the place. She is having a great time and putting in a lot of effort. br>br>I wish the wire was neon so it would be easier to spot because it blends in so well with our carpet.

This is sure to be a hit with any playful cat! When I visit friends' homes, the Cat Dancers, which are actually very simple, are a big hit with the younger cats and kittens
5/5

A few tiny twists of cardboard attached to one end of a 20" or so spring wire that you can either hold or attach to a ribbon suspended from one of those 1-inch wires, as I've done on occasion. 2 month- long- Winds from open windows or the cat's play send long-lasting balloons bouncing across the ceiling. If it appears to be pricey, keep in mind that it is available in three sizes. Sadly, my cat, The Princess Pia, is now very old and deaf, has arthritis, and may also be suffering from dementia, and will bat at it a few times before lying down for a nap or heading for my lap or her food dish. I'm sure she would have enjoyed it if she had been younger and more playful. She no longer engages in any sort of play with her toys.

This will be a huge hit with your cat
5/5

The Cat Dancer toy is a huge hit with our cat. There's no need to spend a lot of money on your cat when they'd rather ply in or with a big, paper bag, cardboard box, or other free or low-cost item. Play with your cat while it's on top of the bed or on the floor with the Cat Dancer, which drives them insane as they chase the end of the wire with small pieces of hard cardboard. As it exhausts itself from the chase, it will crack you up.
