Questions & Answers
These mice are made in China using real rabbit fur and adhere to American standards.
I’t think they have latex, but I’t know for sure.
The eyes and nose are plastic, but not latex, as far as I can tell. Your cat and you should be fine; my husband has a latex allergy and has no issues handling these mice.
I honestly have no idea whether or not it's genuine rabbit fur. "Realistic fluffy textures," according to the package. My cats, on the other hand, enjoy the rattle sound and enjoy playing with the mice. The finished product meets my expectations.

A word of caution is necessary - Maui, my cat, was able to chew the heads off and swallow one of them, requiring major abdominal surgery. I didn't find out what he had eaten until after the surgery, but once we did, I searched and discovered at least four bodies without heads. The surgery was extremely dangerous, and while he is now fine, it could have ended tragically. If your cat likes to chew, these are not a good choice.
Eyes and noses, as others have pointed out, are dangerously sharp small parts that can injure people. I got rid of them. Will continue to look for safe substitutes.
Will these be a hit with your feline companion? Yes, most likely! Our cat adores these mice, to the point where he chewed and swallowed one after only ten minutes of playtime. The mouse body is made of a plastic that is apparently just the right size to be swallowed and then obstruct the bowels of a cat. He's doing well after a bowel surgery and a $3000 vet bill, and he's playing with other, safer toys.
UPDATEbr>These fur mice are still my kittens' favorite toys even though they are now 2 years old. I've reordered bags far too many times to keep track of, and I just want to add one more CAVEAT: By using felt circles instead of the previously well-attached plastic eyes and nose, the manufacturer was able to save money. Remove the loosely glued felt circles, as well as the ears and tail I mentioned in my original review, to prevent your cat from injesting them. br>br>I recommend these mice with a CAVEAT: We have two 5-month-old kittens who go crazy over them! Before you give them to your cat, remove the ears and cut off the tails! My kittens pulled off an ear in less than 5 minutes and chewed through the tail in about an hour. Make sure the plastic eyes and nose are securely attached as well. But I haven't had any issues with it yet. Despite the warning, I plan to purchase these again. They bring joy to my kittens and provide entertainment for us as we watch their antics.
Believe what other reviews say about these not rattling. Only three rattles were found in the entire bag, half of which made a sloshing sand sound, and the rest made no sound at all. They have a chemical odor to them. I'm not convinced they're made of real rabbit fur for the first time. They must have appealed to my cats because they have a rabbit-like odor. Chemicals aren't their favorite. This is the last vendor I'll ever use!.
He's turned into an indoor cat since we returned to the city a year ago. He hasn't forgotten how to "play" with his food, to put it that way. He doesn't try to eat them; instead, he carries them around, throws them in the air, throws them across the room (with a toss of his head), and spends at least 3 hours a day chasing them around (all by himself). We toss them now and then, but he's the one who usually does it. So far, they've held up admirably and appear to be well-constructed. But it's comforting to know that when these two run out, there are 18 more!.
Only about a quarter of the rattles I received had the rattle, and only a few of them were appealing to my cats. They were particularly fond of the ones that rattled. It was obviously impossible to determine how many contained catnip. I was dissatisfied with the overall quality and the fact that so many of them lacked the rattle that had been advertised (and which my cats enjoyed). There is DEFINITELY room for improvement in terms of quality control in these areas!.
My youngest cat's favorite toy is without a doubt these. She'll walk past five other mice or balls to get to these, and she'll cry if she knocks it under a table or sofa by accident. We've bought a couple of individual mice from the pet store before, but this package was a fantastic deal, and I'm glad we went with it. We had to hide the package so she didn't lose them all at once, but I would highly recommend them.
