Questions & Answers

Is this something that cats could eat?

I checked my can, which looks similar to this, and it says nothing about it being suitable for cats. It is solely about dogs. I hope this information is useful.

According to what I've read, slipper elm should be taken 2 hours before or after a meal, or it will prevent nutrients from being absorbed. Why does it say otherwise in the directions?

For a dog who had a collapsed trachea, I used Slippery Elm Bark. We were never told that we needed to give it two hours before or after a meal by a veterinarian. After the SEB was boiled, we added honey. I removed it from the stovetop. We intended to give it to our dog for this reason.

What is the origin of this product?

I can only tell you that it is made in White House, TN and that it is 100% Slippery Elm Bark powder on the label it is 100% Slippery Elm Bark powder The label contains no information about the source of the product.

Is there a measuring cup included with this? If not, how will you know how much to give?

It includes a small scoop that is not labeled. For my 11-pound dog, I use about half a scoop. 5 lbs.

Capsules containing human blood are more effective
3/5

Allow me to preface this review by stating that I have previously used people capsules. I decided to use the pet version because I thought it would be better for my dog. Unfortunately, this did not go far enough to assist my dog. reverted to the original human form.

As anyone who has an EPI dog knows, finding a diet that works well with enzymes and allows their dog to gain weight and pass normal-sized stools is a challenge
5/5

It can be difficult to get rid of ish stools. What works for one dog may not work for another, and it seems like every time we find a good food source that checks all the boxes for our boy, the company discontinues it or changes the formula. We were forced to find a new dog food a few years ago, and we found one that helped our boy maintain his weight, produced the best stools he'd had in years, and that he actually enjoyed! The only issue is this: farts. Bad ones. For example, ones that clear a room but don't stick around. We assumed we'd have to learn to live with it, but after researching slippery elm bark on the EPI forums, we decided to give it a try. We began supplementing his evening meals with the powder almost right away. There will be no gas left! As an added bonus, he seems to enjoy the taste. I can't speak to any of the other advantages, but it has made our evenings on the couch a whole lot more enjoyable!.

Soup made with chicken for dogs! When your dog has a stomach ache, this is what chicken soup is to humans
5/5

I've been using it on two different dogs for the past two years, and the results are fantastic. I'd give it to them with a couple of spoonfuls of wet food first, just to make sure they ate the entire dose, and then the rest of the meal. You may need more than one dose depending on the severity, but the results are spot on. Your dog may be put off by the odor, so come up with a clever way to mask it with something they can't resist.

Works with the EPI dog
5/5

I began using this to help soothe the lining of my EPI dog's digestive tract, and it appears to be effective, so I will continue to use it. Anything we can do to improve the life of an EPI dog is acceptable to me. My EPI dog didn't always have blood lining her poop, but we had just moved 3000 miles to a new house, climate, and so on, and adding this helped calm her down while her emotional state adjusted to everything being so new.

It performs admirably
4/5

After a bout of self-inflicted diarrhea that necessitated antibiotic treatment, my dog had some looseness issues, and this stuff helped him get back to normal. The only criticism is that this could have been done in a smaller container or with more product.

I was hoping this would help my dog with his loose stools
4/5

Regrettably, it had no effect on my dog. We recently discovered that she suffers from Inflammatory Bowel Disease, so while this product may be beneficial, it was not the right fit for my dog.
