Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use this scraper on a cat without killing it?

With a scraper like this, I used to scrape tartar off the outside of my cat's molars. It was something she despised. When I was rested, I would place her on a raised surface, such as a bed mattress, and wrap each of her front paws with about two windings of 2" wide masking tape to prevent her from using her dew claws to obstruct my hand while scraping. I'd gently but firmly place the cat on the bed beneath my non-dominant hand. I gripped her head with my non-dominant arm, as well as my dominant arm. Her lips were spread on one side of her jaw, exposing the molar's outer surface, and she used her dominant hand to do so. Then, with my dominant hand holding the scraper, I'd carefully scrape the tartar from the visible outer surface of her molars on that one side of the jaw. I didn't try to remove tartar from the inner surfaces of the molars because there didn't seem to be any, and even if there was, removing it from the inner surface would be far too difficult; the tartar chipped off in chunks, so I didn't have to spend much time on any one tooth. I'd keep a pair of small semi-precious stones in my house. When I finished scraping her teeth, I used blunt tip scissors to cut through the tape covering her claws. I'd then try to remove the tape as gently as possible without pulling on her paws' fur.

What is the duration of the sharpness?

So far, I've only used it on each dog about 7 or 8 times (for a total of 14 times). There are 16 in total) and it's still razor-sharp. I haven't used it in a while because I used it on my dogs every day for a week, and now all I have to do is brush their teeth: ) I hope this information is useful!

I recently received this and have been scraping my dog's tooth; the material is coming off in small chunks. I'm looking for advice on how to do this. Thanks! ?

It helped me to push the tool upwards along the tartar (scraping away from the bottom up) if I had a lot of tartar, which my chihuahua had. When most of the gunk has been scraped off, place the tool perpendicularly between the gum and the very top of the teeth and scrape downward; a large chunk of gunk flew right off this way.

Is it possible to apply this to people?

I'm afraid I can't answer that because I'm not sure. It works well on my dog, and all of the reviews I've read indicate that it is effective on canines and molars, but it also works on my dog's small front teeth. I hope this has been of assistance.

PICTURES! This is something you should have in your arsenal of pet supplies! I was trying to figure out what I needed to do to get rid of my dog's tarter, which was mostly concentrated around the back teeth
5/5

I was looking at gels, bushes, rinses, and sorts when I came across this one. I came across a small tool with a lot of positive feedback. The first thing I noticed was how inexpensive it was, with each item costing around $7! Then I thought to myself, "Why the hell not?" If you had a job, you could save $7 by skipping lunch one day. It's not a major issue. br>br>The first thing I noticed after receiving the product was how solid and sturdy it felt. I couldn't wait to put it to the test on my boxer/lab mix. If pressed hard enough, the scaler's edge can cut the hair on my dog's teeth. This has a lot of bite. I'm not sure what some people mean when they say it's boring. You don't need this tool to be as sharp as a razor to remove tartar; however, you don't want to make a mistake and have your dog's gums bleed all over the place if you make a mistake. So I began with his worst tooth, the one at the back of his mouth. I'm taking it easy and slowly. To get the tarter to pop off, you'll need to use some force. To scrape off the remaining tarter, you'll need to adjust the angle of the scaler quite a bit. I was blown away by how clean his tooth looked afterward; it only took me about 5 minutes to clean his largest tooth. When it comes to me doing things to my dog, I'm grateful he's very obedient and understanding. br>br>However, if you have a dog with weak gums that keep the teeth in place, you should exercise caution. It takes a little force to get the tartar out, and some dogs' teeth are extremely sensitive; additionally, this scaler isn't recommended for dogs who become agitated and refuse to let you poke around in their mouth. This, however, can be remedied with a few treats and patience, Haha. br>br>The Bottom Line: This is something I would recommend to any dog owner who wants to keep their gums healthy and free of tartar. You should still have your dog's teeth cleaned by a professional. But it will happen less frequently because this product is effective. I'll post some before and after photos soon! br>br>Thank you for taking the time to read this! Also, please let me know if you found this information to be useful.

This tartar remover is incredible! My Australian Koda had a lot of tartar buildup, so the vet recommended a cleaning
5/5

I wanted to stay away from that because it entails being sedated. Anesthesia carries risks, and a tooth cleaning didn't seem to be one of them. br>br>So I decided to give this product a try (it's just me and Koda, no other help) and it works great! To use the scaler to remove tartar, your dog must have a high level of trust in you. br>br>I will say, your dog must have a high level of trust in you. br>br>I will say, in order to use the scaler to remove tartar, your dog must have a high level of trust in you. It takes about 10 minutes to clean a single tooth. It takes 15 minutes to clean, and I only do one a day because I can tell it's stressful for Koda, even though he's so good and still and lets me clean.

She is despised by dogs
5/5

One pet parent discovers the secret to keeping her teeth clean. This is something that my dog despises. I mean, he despises it. She would destroy it if she could figure out how to do so. It has no effect on her. She simply has a grudge against dental hygiene. So don't expect your dog to put up with this if you can't even brush their teeth. Having said that, it excels at its task. I've gotten a lot of plaque build-up in the 10 second bursts she allows me to use it. Her back teeth had been scraped. You might be able to get completely clean teeth in a single session if your dog is more patient. For best results, press hard and scrape in a downward motion with the scaler held almost parallel to the tooth with the scaler held almost parallel to the tooth with the scaler held almost parallel to the tooth with the scaler held almost parallel to the tooth with the scaler held almost parallel to the tooth with the scaler held nearly parallel to the tooth with the scaler held almost parallel to the tooth with.

Yorkie's teeth were covered in calculus
5/5

A Yorkie is 3 years old, she has horrible breath, and yet the fee for getting her teeth cleaned would be $200 even though she is 3 pounds, because if she did the same I would say its worth paying $203. I'm including a photo of some of the hardened tarter that I got off my Yorkie teeth there were many large chunks but hubby threw away the paper towel I had and of course Bella giving me the stink eye after her teeth cleaning session lol.

If your dog isn't used to it, I wouldn't recommend it
5/5

Those gleaming teeth are back! We brush Chessie's teeth twice a day and give her a dental chew after each brushing. Despite this, the back molars still accumulate a significant amount of tartar. Using this simple tool, we were able to save hundreds of dollars. If your dog isn't used to brushing, I wouldn't recommend it. Start with the front teeth and work your way back to the back molars to avoid injuring the gums; the edges are very sharp, so take care. Use a gentle scraping motion and keep in mind that you won't be able to clean all of your teeth in one sitting. We worked on one tooth at a time, rewarding ourselves in between, until the tartar was mostly gone.

I'll gladly change this to a five star rating if they send me a new tooth scaler, but it arrived with a dangerous defect
3/5

I flipped the pick around halfway through scaling my dog's teeth and saw a metal splinter sticking out just as it was about to touch his teeth. If I hadn't noticed as soon as I did, this would have ripped my poor dog's gums to shreds.
