Are these dental treats softer and easier to chew than "greenies"? Those are too hard for my cat to chew. ?

I don't know much about greenish dental treats, but they aren't soft and may cause problems for your cat. They aren't rock hard, but they are firm.

Is there a shelf life on these, and if so, how long do they last?

It was delicious
5/5

It's never been so much fun to brush my teeth. I'm relieved that I no longer have to deal with toothpaste that tastes bad and burns. Purina DentaLife Tasty Chicken not only satisfies my chicken cravings, but it also cleans my teeth with each bite, and my cat seems to enjoy the smell of my breath afterward. I just wish he wouldn't meow at me so loudly every time I eat these. He never leaves my side from the moment I open the container until I finish the last bite, so I believe he appreciates the fact that I am taking care of my teeth.

Cracked Cat
5/5

When my cat knows she'll be getting these, she literally salivates. I'm afraid she's hooked on something. She takes a seat and extends her hand to shake yours. She's a feline, and she's a cat at that. Rehab comes to mind as a possible next step. I had to keep these from my mother because she was feeding the cat so much that the cat's neck profile had deteriorated. Rehab is one thing, but gastric bypass is quite another. She has reduced her daily treat intake to four. Her neck is straight, and her teeth are in excellent condition. The treats are crunchy, and she has to crunch on them several times before she's finished, so they're effective at cleaning teeth. Overfeeding is not a good idea. Kitty Noneck isn't particularly attractive.

Purina DentaLife Cat Treats are great for keeping my cat's teeth clean
5/5

Last year, one of my cats had to have two teeth extracted because tartar had caused damage to the gum tissue and nerves. The vet clinic gave me a sheet with instructions on how to care for my cat, which included everything from brushing his teeth every day to adding a liquid to the water. I decided to give the liquid a try, and I started by putting 1 drop in the bowl - The water was refused by the cat. Purina DentaLife Tasty Chicken Flavor Treats were discovered while searching on Amazon. The instructions say to give no more than 17 per day (I give him 5 three times during the day and 2 before bed because I am retired). He adores them, much to my surprise. I took him back to the vet after 5 months of giving him the treats, and the vet was astounded by how healthy my cat's mouth appeared. I now give them to my Siamese to help her maintain a healthy mouth. Purina has yet another great product that I will keep buying.

With a diameter of just under half an inch, this is a good size
4/5

These have only recently been tried by my cats. They like them, but not to the point of obsession. My older daughter prefers feline greenies, so I'll continue to serve them to her. If you're curious about the size of the chunks, they're about half an inch across, as I was. For a sense of scale, see the photo. My cats chew them instead of swallowing them whole because they are large enough.

It was far more effective than the vet's prescription for my cat's dental problems
4/5

I feed Purina One indoor cat food to my two cats, as recommended by the SPCA where I adopted them as rescue cats. My cats have been with me for 40 years and have never had "cat tartar" from dry food, but they now do. br>br>My (former) veterinarian began teasing me about a possible "manual cleaning" that would cost upwards of $500 and include full sedation. Vets are becoming more expensive than dentists. br>br>The (former) vet handed me a miniature toothbrush and some nonsense "chicken flavored enzymatic toothpaste" for cats (see photo). Who does he think he's kidding, anyway? (See image) "This appears to be a recipe for an ER visit," I told the vet tech. Hills Science Diet/Dental for cats was also suggested by my (former) vet. My cats were constantly puking as a result of it - It's possible that your cat's experience will differ - It may be perfect for them, but my cats didn't chew it thoroughly enough, and the large chunks made them yak. It's also pricey, but if it worked, I would've used it. br>br>Other than a $500 invasive cleaning or overpriced food that my cats couldn't eat, there had to be a better way to remove dental tartar. br>br>LONG story short, I tried a variety of dental treats and my cats preferred the Purina salmon flavor over the Purina chicken flavor. The dental treats with a salmon flavor were effective - 90% tartar reduction over a 3 month period according to the new vet during this period according to the new vet during this period according to the br>br>I can't give the Amazon-requested "flavor" a rating because I'm not familiar with it. I'm not a big fan of cat treats. But, as I previously stated, my cats disliked the chicken flavor, but that doesn't mean anything because anyone reading this knows how wacky cats can be, and your cats' experience could be completely different from mine. br>br>To put it another way, this product actually works. I'm not sure why regular cat food, such as Purina One indoor cat food, isn't considered a "dental" product in the first place. Probably because if they did, they wouldn't be able to sell you the much more expensive dental treats. Product marketing irritates me a great deal. Everything you've heard is a lie. br>br>4 stars for the price, which appears to be the same everywhere. I hope this information is useful.
