Questions & Answers

Is it effective at removing plaque?

For starters, we had our dogs' teeth professionally cleaned, and then we used Maxi-Dent for the rest of their lives. Every day, we use Guard Oral Cleansing Gel to keep our dog's teeth clean and free of plaque.

Is there a vitamin C vial included in this bottle?

Mine did. The vitamin C bottle was attached to some of the same ones on Amazon. The outside of the bottle is taped with a red top. However, because Amazon aggregates all questions and answers for the same item, your bottle may not be the same as the one I ordered.

Is it necessary to refrigerate this once it has been opened?

"Store at room temperature and out of direct sunlight," says the label. " If your pet has sensitive teeth, this product may be difficult for them to accept.

My veterinarian advised me to put it in the water. What proportion of product to water do you use?

The vet advised me to apply under the lip with the little nozzle squirting product above the gum line, working my way from back to front and then to the opposite side.

So far, everything has gone swimmingly
5/5

My nearly-year-old cat had severe gum disease above his molars, which I discovered only recently. I wasn't able to train him in oral care early because he was born feral and had severe socialization issues, but I didn't think things could get so bad so soon (he's only had molars for a few months!). He had *terrible* breath and bright, bright red gums that bled profusely when brushed. br>br>I've been using Maxi-Scanner for a while now. I've been taking care of myself every day for the past two weeks and am pleased with the results. When brushing, his breath no longer smells like death, and there's a lot less blood (none last night!). And he likes the taste; there is no foaming at the mouth or other signs of a medicinal product, and he tolerates it better than pet toothpaste (he is *extremely* picky about food). br>br>I did a lot of research on oral care products and was concerned about choosing the right one because many contain toxic ingredients. Granted, I haven't had much experience with it and will update this review if my findings change, but for now, I strongly recommend it. I may still need to take him to the vet for a cleaning and antibiotics, but I'll keep using Maxi-Clean. Look after the oral hygiene of my cat.

The liver, kidneys, and heart of your cat should all be protected
5/5

They ought to floss. I use two plastic finger brushes as well as a small Maxi-brush. At least once a week, I make sure to brush my cat's teeth. Use your index fingers to apply the finger brushes. Pour a small amount of Maxi-Essentials into a glass. In a small bowl, place the guard. Wet the plastic bristles of the finger brushes by dipping them into the bowl. Put yourself in the shoes of your cat. Place the brushes in your cat's mouth on the left and right sides. It's a good thing that your cat is trying to keep its mouth shut. Brush your cat's teeth for ten minutes with a soft toothbrush. It only takes 20 seconds. To get the rest of the Maxi-color, dip the brushes into the bowl a second time. Brush for an additional ten minutes. It only takes 20 seconds. Eddie, my Tuxedo cat, died at the age of 27. My cats' teeth and gums are as good as new when I take them to the veterinarian. Their blood work is always excellent, and their hearts, livers, and kidneys are in excellent condition. They don't have a bad case of bad breath at any time.

For years, I've used this to clean my cat's teeth. My veterinarian suggested it, and it has proven to be effective. I use a cotton pad to rub it on her teeth every night. No, my cat does not approve of our new routine, but we've figured out how to make it work. It's all paid off because I've avoided having to go to the dentist for any costly dental procedures. The quality of my cat's breath has improved as well. I highly recommend this product, and I mix it as directed before transferring a large portion to a small jar and storing it in the refrigerator. Every few weeks, I replenish the original container (which I keep in the bathroom cabinet) with only a small amount as needed. This preserves the product's freshness and ensures that nothing goes to waste (nothing goes green).

Helping out a lot
5/5

When you try to use a toothbrush on my dog, he just chews on it, so we had to rely on "dental chews" from various brands to keep his breath fresh. Three front teeth were pulled during his most recent trip to the vet for a full teeth cleaning. As a result, we needed to take his dental health much more seriously. We use a drop of this on his gums every night and a recommended dental treat (OraVet), and the vet says his teeth have improved dramatically since then. Plus there's this: His breath isn't as stale as it once was. Bonus: This bottle is still nearly full four months later.

This is actually effective! My elderly pomeranian has a serious gum problem on one side as a result of an injury he sustained a few years ago
5/5

He had terrible breath. I wasn't expecting much from this, but to my surprise, it works; his breath is now normal, and his teeth appear to be in better shape. I needed to do something, and since he's 13, I wasn't about to have him poked by a doctor. Fortunately, he likes the taste, and it appears to be working.

My 10-year-old dog has advanced periodontal disease and requires nightly toothpaste in addition to annual cleanings at the vet, which my vet recommends but is not my dog's favorite
3/5

This brand was specifically recommended by our veterinarian, and I've been using it for over a year. I'm hoping it helps, but he still gets a lot of plaque and doesn't seem to enjoy it as much as other doggie toothpastes we've tried (his favorite is the Burt's Bees foam). br>br>I, for one, find the liquid to be too thin. We go through it quickly because it's difficult to administer just a single drop. As a result, I'm forced to order this product on a regular basis, despite my veterinarian's assurances that it's the right one. I wish it had a little more viscosity because I think it would stay on my dog's teeth a little better. Regardless, I'll continue to use it as directed by my veterinarian.

Kitty is aided in biting back! Before I started using this product, old kitty had dental issues; now that I'm using it twice a day, there's no more tooth loss! I wish the white paint around MAXGUARD's name was the same color as the new liquid-based paint

This would assist in determining when a new bottle should be started. Even if you never finish the bottle, it's a good investment. It can also be stored for a long time before being mixed. It's easy to combine flavors: a small amount of pre-made ketchup shake the powder in a controlled manner Willie G Willow approves and even reminds me if I forget to work on his teeth by wrapping the bottle in tape and placing it in the refrigerator because it is heat and light sensitive. He takes a bite out of me.

It's not a gel; it's too thin and runny to be a gel
3/5

I've previously purchased this brand in a 2 oz size and have used it for many years. It was more of a gel than anything else. This 4oz size is so runny that I can't get it into my dog's mouth without it spilling all over my hand, so I'm trying to come up with a way to thicken it. Do you have any suggestions? I'm thinking about returning it and looking for something else.
