PICKY NEB 100% Non-GMO Dried Mealworms - High-Protein Mealworm Treats - Perfect for Your Chickens, Ducks, Wild Birds, Turtles, Hamsters, Fish, and Hedgehogs

I've bought these mealworms a few times in the last few years, and I can say that adding them to my feeding stations has increased the number and variety of birds that visit my yard, especially during migration and breeding seasons in the winter and spring. br>br>I currently reside in west central Florida, just north of Tampa. I've been feeding birds in my yard for a long time. Previously, I fed a mixture of seeds, starting with black oil sunflower seeds and adding striped sunflower seeds, safflower seeds, millet, milo, peanuts, cracked corn, and suet pellets (depending on what was available in local stores). Of course, I provide watering stations as well. In the winter and during breeding season, I add suet feeders and provide a variety of dried fruits, more types of nuts, sliced fresh fruit, and jelly. When the goldfinches pass through, I add Niger seed to the mix. year-year-year-year-year-year-year-year-year-year-year-year-year-year-year-year This brings me what I call "the usual suspects" – mostly cardinals, tufted titmouses, house finches, mocking birds, red bellied woodpeckers, mourning doves, and ground doves, as well as a few species of resident LBBs ("Little Brown Birds") – a mix of wrens, warblers, sparrows, finches, and other small birds that can be difficult to distinguish from one another br>br>I noticed that eastern bluebirds were present in my neighborhood. I'd see them in a large, open retention area behind my house looking for insects, but they never came to my feeders, even when I added dried fruits. I was hesitant to use dried mealworms because some people claim that birds don't like them, and I didn't want to deal with live mealworms. Last year, I tried dried mealworms for the first time. I put them in a hanging platform feeder with a mix of seeds, fruits, nuts, and suet pellets, as well as a separate hanging feeder just for mealworms. I've noticed a significant increase in the number and variety of birds visiting my feeders since I started using mealworms. Consider the following example:

- Bluebirds are a type of bird. The bluebirds began flocking to both the platform feeder and the mealworm-filled feeder within a few days of adding the mealworms. a single feeder I'm sure I have two. Woodpeckers with a reddish-brown belly spend the entire year in the woods. round, but only saw other woodpeckers on rare occasions, and then only on my yard's trees, with only a few visits to the feeders. However, I am now seeing red-eyed vipers, particularly in the springtime. Woodpeckers such as red-headed, red-cockaded, downy, and possibly hairy woodpeckers, as well as flickers, can be found in the trees and on the feeders.
- Mockingbirds and blue jays appear to be more frequent visitors. Both have been observed on mealworms. a single feeder
- Species Not Found: I've noticed an increase in the number of native and migratory species that visit the yard and feeders. Small flocks of starlings, robins, finches, wrens, warblers, thrushes, sparrows, and an even greater variety of LBBs appear to be among them. Juncos, towhees, and siskins are among the birds I've seen. On some days, the sound of chirping birds and small clouds of birds flitting about fills my entire backyard. Some come for the seed, but I notice a lot of them at the platform feeder and the mealworm-feeding station as well. It's also a feeder.
- Cardinals, tufted titmouse, doves, and other "usual suspects" have been seen more recently.
- They'll be devoured by squirrels as well. Squirrels seem to eat just about anything, so they're not exactly a plus, but they're part of the bird-feeding territory. br>br>Each bag of Picky Neb mealworms I've bought has appeared to be clean, fresh, and well-kept. dried. They have a nice, earthy, roasted aroma to them. They've always been prompt in their arrival. I find the price to be reasonable and comparable to, if not superior to, that which I can find in local big box stores or feed supply stores. It's also convenient to have them "always available," as I've gone to stores and found that they were out of mealworms on occasion. It's also helpful to have a variety of sizes. br>br> Local stores, I've discovered, tend to sell very small packages for very high prices. Even feed stores selling larger bags for feeding farm birds, at least in my area, don't have as much variety for better prices. Last year, I started with 2 pound bags of Picky Neb and moved up to the 5-pound bags this year. bags weighing a pound However, given the rate at which the birds consume them in the winter and spring, I may have to increase my bag size to ten pounds in the future. I estimate that the birds go through two meals per day. During the winter and spring migration/breeding seasons, 3 cups of mealworms per day are recommended. In the summer and fall, there are far fewer birds in my yard, so I use much less. Clearly, the key to increasing the number of birds in your yard is to provide as many different types of food as possible. Even though I offered a wide variety of seeds, nuts, and fruits, I can say from experimentation and experience that adding the dried mealworms made a significant difference.

Picky Neb mealworms were much less expensive, so I took a chance and was pleasantly surprised. There are only a few broken worms among these large worms. They are so popular with our chickens that we have to mix them in with scratch grain and feed to keep them from injuring themselves while attempting to get to them. They scream and crowd the door to their run when they see me approaching with the small bucket I use. Furthermore, they have begun to lay larger eggs since we began feeding them these worms. I had no idea it was possible, but the eggs have grown in size from medium to large. I'm not sure if it's because of the higher-quality worms, but it began about a week after we began feeding them these worms. The only issue I have with them is that they aren't always available.

5 pounds of large, whole meal worms are included in the bag, as well as a high-quality scoop. The worms were in excellent condition. They weren't crushed or broken up in any way. br>br>We can see that the birds are so enamored with these worms that they keep an eye on me every day! When they see me coming out to the back yard to inspect and clean the fountain, they yell. When they see me, they've become more relaxed, and now they'll stay close by on the fence (less than 10 feet away) while I'm outside, waiting for me to spread out some meal worms. br>br>I strongly advise anyone interested in feeding wild and/or domestic birds to get these. chickens.

What a letdown! I searched for meal worm products made outside of China! Your website portrays you as a happy little family farm product, but when I receive my box, it states that it was manufactured in China! I believe I have been duped and will be returning this as soon as possible!.

We buy the larger bag and portion it out into smaller containers to keep on hand as treats or extra protein for our chickens. They are a huge hit with our girls. br>br>Are you having trouble getting all of your chicks into the coop at night? Put everything in a 2 quart jar and shake it every evening near the coop. Toss a handful in to entice obstinate chicks inside, then close the coop door. TaDa! Have some birds gone through a hard molt, exploding feathers all over the place and appearing droopy as a result of a lack of protein for feather growth? Give them some extra mealworms and watch as they molt much more quickly and with less effort. br>br>Do you have a new bird that is shy and needs to be coaxed into trusting people? Bring a few of these closer and closer to you until you're eating them out of your hands. br>br>They can be used for a variety of things, and birds adore them!.

To keep my hens laying throughout the winter, I feed them mealworms to supplement the protein they are missing due to the lack of bugs; it always works; they don't lay every day, but out of just five mixed breed hens, I get an average of 26 eggs per week, compared to 36 eggs per week in the summer. I've discovered that Picky Neb mealworms provide the best value for my money. I am self-sufficient in my living arrangements. I keep my birds on a grid 30 miles south of the Canadian border and never provide heat or light to them. It's the protein from the mealworms that causes the problem. It's a fantastic product with a fantastic price tag. Picky Neb, thank you very much, and please keep up the good work.
