I regret to inform you that yes, the net effectively prevents the flies from falling to the ground, however, you must be ready to catch them after you take the net down. Once you separate/clean the cage, the cage's elastic will drop. The seeds will then fall out. As soon as I finish cleaning the cage, I move it to a large counter which I then have to clean off. As an alternative, you could place some sort of tray underneath to catch any seeds that flutter out when you remove the catcher for cleaning.
Sellers generally don't respond well to questions like this. Anyone still interested in this will find that it does not cover the bottom of the cage however, it does catch enough around the circumference so it stays in place.
Thanks for taking the time to respond, Sheila There are none. The top is built like a tube. With an elastic band on the top and bottom, the cage is 'fitted' around the top and bottom. In our case, we have four messy finches actively using it (we have them swimming around on their own). However, this helps keep the mess to a minimum. I have a few tips to share. When cleaning the seed catcher, either 1) move the seed cup below the top line of the catcher (the seed flies while the birds eat), or 2) remove the cage and clean it outside (if possible). A sticky seed caught in it is probably going to end up on the floor unless it is removed. Thanks for reading. I hope you find this useful. The Queen

Thank you for saving my life! Time saver, that's what I call it. It used to be necessary for me to vacuum every day before this mesh cover, but not any longer. A white one was received and I was able to put it on easily. I don't have to worry about seed flying everywhere. It eliminates that problem! It didn't seem to bother the birds either that this additional piece was added to their cage. My wife and I are amazed at the low cost of this product for all the time we anticipate saving by keeping the seed in the cage. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to save on time by keeping the seed in the cage. Thanks a bunch! I'm looking forward to it!.
The circumference of the clock is 100 inches (not the diameter as described on Amazon). Its circumference is 98 inches & my height is 78 inches Although it fits snugly, it is still comfortable & doesn't cause any discomfort The system does what it is supposed to do. The reviewer who could not fit it is not the only one who has the issue. It is necessary to use two seed guards (the bottom one overlapping the top one), because the food tray of my birds is near the midpoint of the cage, so the seed guard must rise at least a few inches above it to contain the mess. As long as the food trays are situated near the bottom of the cage, one guard should be sufficient. I have been able to contain 90% of the mess within my current setup. The seeds need to be vacuumed from the bottom of the guard and the cage tray needs to be cleaned about every one to two months The deadline is two weeks from now.
While I dislike to leave negative reviews, I am much happier when I can laud a product. Unfortunately, I wish I had read reviews like the ones about to be left before I purchased this item. There are a number of reasons I am very disappointed in this product. I purchased the size Large, which according to the box should be able This cage fits cages with a circumference of You will need to wait for The number 100. Rather than saying "stretches up to 100", it should say "stretches up From the moment I opened the box, I noticed two elastic bands at the top and the did not appear to have much snap to them at all, and looked different from any elastic I've ever seen. It is my cage that I am standing on For a parrot model to stand, it is 22 x 24 inches, with a 92 inch circumference, so when fitting it in my hands I should have had at least 8 inches available. That's not the case. Only the collar of the cage was reached by the catcher. The fabric is stretched so tightly that it is nearly skin-tight. I put it on less than an hour ago, but the elastic failed so badly that it won't stay up, keeps slipping down, and it's already fallen. I would not have cared whether I had ordered the XL because the elastic would have been of such high quality that it would have slipped farther and faster even if I had ordered it. When I attempt to remove this I don't know if there will be seed, powder, or feathers inside. This will result in a mess all over the place. I can see it being suitable to use on smaller tabletop cages for cockatiels and keets, but even then, I doubt that it is of long-term use because the elastic material is so poor. For it to stay in place, you would have to clip it to the cage somehow, but that is not The clip attached to or even close to any cage I've ever had would be attracted to and nibbled by any bird I've ever had, no matter what size or species it was. The only way I would try to salvage it would be to thread both top and bottom with a better elastic, but this one doesn't match the quality of this top. To end on a positive note since I hate to end on such a negative note, I will add this In the netting material, it appears to be of a type that may help curb some of the powder that birds produce, with a weave tight enough that claws and beaks will have difficulty Thus, IF the product was big enough and had the appropriate circumference and height, it might be quite beneficial and welcomed by those of us who have large parrots whose powder covers the entire earth within 20 feet of their cages.
I have a large bird cage, so the large mesh seed catcher fits perfectly.
The feathers can easily be removed since I can see them clearly. I can fit my 18 inch wide by 14 inch deep two story cage in it. Having chosen black for the second one, I was happy with the one that I received. I'm so happy! I was very pleased with the quality of the netting and how well it was It does not matter what color the bird is.
Based on the reviews, I knew that I might receive black because the color seems to be a random choice. In spite of the fact that my cage is white, I like the black design a lot. It's very opague to the point where Black seems to be a better choice for my birds than white. I ordered two more black and two white. I ordered from another company at the same time and was allowed to select the color, but until now I haven't been able to find any taller or that cover quite as well as those from this company. So I simply cut out where they go since I have an outside feeder and waterer. In this way, I have been able to keep the feathers and seeds You can see a picture with black in it here.
In all the pictures, all I saw were white ones and I didn't notice they came in different Two thirds of I put it on the bottom of the cage of my cockatiel. The net was probably efficient for catching seeds, but it not only concealed my birds from view, but dimmed their cage significantly, which they disliked. Cockatiels don't like anything if they are unhappy if they are unhappy you don't have to live with them. Their shreeks make me shiver! I'll keep travelling! On top of that, the black fabric looks awful next to my beautiful white cage. It sounds like the funeral music I heard at my grandmother's funeral. I hate it. Look for a company that allows you to choose which color you want for your product.
There is a misunderstanding regarding color selection in the description. Since the first picture shows a white seed catcher, I was clicking on it to specify I wanted white In order to get white, you need to choose the LAST picture of 3.
My other issue, and this seems to be a common thing with all seed catchers, is they do not have a bottom. Seeds are thrown into the net and then slide down the opening at the bottom and out of the net. It will be better if I add material to the bottom so it catches the mess, however, technically it is essentially useless.
