Questions & Answers
Please accept our thanks for your interest in the 133ft XGR This is who we are - In most cases, heating cable that is used for roofing materials is safe. *br>In order to find out the temperature index of your roof's material, you will need to do some research. The cable we use for heating is T-shaped This means the cable is rated 6 so that its sheath (outermost surface) does not exceed 85 degrees Celsius. If your roof material can withstand temperatures up to 85C, you will be able to use our heating cable without any problems. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you and Xarex
Xarex XGR should come with self-standing instructions. Thank you for writing. The PTC characteristic is regulated in a way that will reduce the heat output of the cable when it gets hot outside, thus preventing overheating or high electric bills. Nevertheless, we would like to recommend switching it off after every winter and turning it back on before the next one. It is recommended that you contact professionals to install thermostats and controllers if you would like to try them. The best way to maintain the life expectancy of our products is to turn them On and Off manually, but there are some wonderful (expensive) controllers, so do it at your own I have the pleasure of serving you, Xarex
We recommend that two lines of heat cables in gutters be placed horizontally in gutters for greatest performance. It is okay to cross over and to double up in certain places, but please keep them spaced apart to ensure optimal
In order to energize the heating cable beforehand (before icing conditions develop at the start of winter), the following needs to be done We seem to become energised once icing conditions have been cleared (in Our 87' heating cable has 7W/ft of power using the XGR 2000, however, the power increases to 13W/ft when the cable is wet (ice/snow surrounding cable), assuming ambient temperature is 32 degrees F. As such, our 87ft heating cable has a nominal wattage of 609 Watts in dry conditions, and as high as 1,131 Watts in wet conditions (ice and snow) when the outside temperature If the cable is energized below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the wattage will be higher, therefore the current draw will be greater. In this case, all nominal values are based on 120VAC supply voltage, so the desired current draw can be calculated by dividing the power output (Wattage) *br>We also wish to point out that self-promotion is necessary for success The heating cable has an in-built thermostat that allows it to be controlled The current is typically 2 to 3 amperes in rush The current is drawn 3 times more than when it is energized, and it stabilizes at the normal current draw (nominal wattage) within Please let me know if this is helpful in answering I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you and Xarex

Excellent quality product that is easy to install and has all the connections in a machine and professional manner. Quite a few are simply glued together with heat tape. As the manufacturer suggests, these do not come with a temperature control and must be turned on and off manually. The point is well taken. I may be able to help you in dealing with the manufacturer if there is a problem with your unit. We had one problem with our unit and the company was great to deal with, so you can be assured the manufacturer supports you. You are not supposed to use extension cords, they say in the instructions, but unfortunately men don't always heed that advice. Power needs to be added to these, so you may want to hire a professional to do it. It is worth your time, effort and money to prevent ICE dams. There is much more to be gained by correctly installing these than by repairing damage or flooding! I'll be Jeff.
So far, only have used the cable for two weeks, but so far it has been working During the day, it melted 3 inches of solid ice. It was easy to install, and it works great in my gutter.
Not included in the package.
Setting it and forgetting it is not the solution! The roof of my home is corrugated and the gutters are seamless aluminum. There would have been no need for a rainwater collection system, since snow melt would have been so much more convenient.
Since I just installed it yesterday, I can say that it seems to work great.
The installation took no longer than 20 minutes for my handy brother.
I was pleased with the quality of the job, it was just as I had.
According to the description, the product works.
