My two questions are as follows. In the ad, it says the net is 7'x6', but the picture shows a net that is 6'x6'. What is the most recent Japanese monofilament? Second question, is this the newer softer one?

The net is 7' in length. There is a lot of softness in the mono. Casing nets made in China do not have the same quality. Here is an article that may be of help to

An 8 foot net would be great, but a 7 foot net would be ideal. I received it early, it arrived in perfect working order, and it works great. The one I ordered was exactly what I needed. A cast net needs to have regular weights, not plastic coated, and a wrist cuff. I was looking for a cast net that had both of those features.

There was a large hole in ours

Through Adacemy Outdoors, we bought the exact same cast net, but for a much lower price. A 6" hole was visible on the bottom of the item when we pulled it out of the box. There is clearly a lack of workmanship here. It goes without saying that we returned it and bought a Betts net instead.
