Tom, Proposition 65, or Prop. 65 as it's more commonly known—is a California ballot initiative that was passed in 1996. The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, signed into law by California voters in 1986, is number 65. The state of California is required by law to publish a list of chemicals that have been determined to have the potential to cause cancer and/or reproductive harm. The list is updated at least once a year, and over 900 different substances, some of which are naturally occurring, are currently listed. Only about half of the 900 have established risk thresholds, so it is up to the company to demonstrate that there is no risk. Before exposing anyone to a listed chemical, businesses selling products in California must give a "clear and reasonable" warning. This warning can be found on a variety of products that you may buy and use on a daily basis, such as aspirin, coffee, fruits, and alcoholic beverages. br>br>As a result of aggressive and expensive lawsuits filed by lawyers against businesses seeking monetary settlements, you're seeing an increase in Prop 65 labeling. As a result, many companies, including ours, are issuing a warning if any of the 900 chemicals on the list, in any amount, may be present in a product. We believe our products are safe, but in order to comply with the law to the fullest extent possible, we have included this warning label. Your snow brush's hand grip, in particular, may contain a small amount of dehp, a chemical additive used to soften some plastics. Dehp has been linked to an increase in health risks when consumed in large amounts, according to some studies. We believe your snowbrush is safe to eat, but do not eat it.
I've had mine for seven years and it's the only ice scraper I've ever owned that hasn't broken. Brushing has never been a problem for me. I live in the snowbelt of Northeast Ohio.
This is something I'd like to know as well. 2017 Winter. For items made in the United States, I will pay a premium.
The paint isn't scratched by the brush, so don't worry. br>So far this season, I've used it twice and am pleased with the results.

Terrible. This isn't something you should buy. When I first used the brush, all of the bristles fell out. It was even snowing lightly, so this shouldn't have happened. The scraper part appears to be in good working order. br>br>Update: I've only been using the scraper side for a year and it's reached the point where it's no longer very effective, scraping only in the middle—roughly half the blade's length. The situation is still bad. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> It's in the trash, where it belongs.
Because of the numerous positive reviews, I decided to purchase this ice scraper/brush. A brush is a brush, and a brush is a brush - that's all there is to it. I don't expect much from a scraper or brush - I could have used any standard mid-grade brush of decent quality. Anyway, I chose this one, and it was missing bristles when it arrived. There are four empty bristle holes out of a total of about two dozen. They don't seem to be missing. It appears to be misfabbed because it is never used. I'm not sure how that gets through even the most stringent Quality Assurance inspection. That's a pain in the neck. Replacing it isn't worthwhile for me. I doubt the replacement would be completely bristled. I'll use this one for now and see how it holds up before switching to something else next time.
On the handle of this product, there is a warning about the chemicals used in its manufacture. The product has a warning not to have skin contact with it if you are pregnant or have children in your vehicle.
The bristles on this product began to fall off after only 30 seconds of use. When I noticed them on my car, I looked down to see if there were any more, and there were. I grabbed a couple of bristles to see how easily I could pull them away from the brush, and they came free before I even started pulling. I don't see how anyone could use this product; it's poorly constructed and doesn't do what it's supposed to do. This is unacceptable, so I will be expecting a refund.
Due to the current season, I purchased this item. ice and snow, to be precise. The package arrived quickly and, thankfully, before the ice storm. The problem is that the scraper I received had a rolled edge to the "blade" that made it scrape the ice about as well as my fingenails. I could probably use a file to clean up the edge and make this thing usable, and I probably will, but do I have to? br>br>But, hey, the brush is functional.
The padding around the handle appears to be a little sloppy. I purchased this one as well as the slightly less expensive Amazon Basics version, and I would strongly recommend the Amazon Basics version over this one. Despite the fact that they are nearly identical, they are not interchangeable. The bristles on this one appear to be less sturdy, and the plastic on the end isn't as well cut as the Amazon Basics one. The scraper and overall construction of the plastic piece appear to be very durable, but the foam padding is what I'm most concerned about.
This was a waste of time. When I first used the scraper to remove ice from my windshield, it scratched it. After a while, the scraper came off. It was simply adhered to the rod's bottom. I would not purchase this item again.
Now that I have a proper snow brush, it's a decent brush. I've had better, but for the price I paid, I'm more than happy with this. Especially now that Amazon has replaced my first one, which had broken. If you don't double-check yours before using it, you risk damaging your car or breaking the snow brush without even realizing it was defective or damaged in the first place. Especially considering how the company attempted to conceal the damage on the first one I received. I'm hoping it lasts as long as the last one I had. I'd had it for a long time and had finally decided to let it go.
