Questions & Answers
I have had no problems using it with my 104°F pool and spa.
The Super II comes completely assembled; all you have to do is disconnect the 2" intake. connection for discharge wiring. Without a hitch, the new unit will settle in quickly. I'm very pleased with how simple it is to set up and how well it works.
The pump does not come with any fittings, but it does come with a riser to raise it if your setup requires it. To install it, you'll need a couple of 2 inch male threaded slip couplers or unions (at least one union). There are two female 2 inch threaded connections on the pump.
I'm not sure if it's mine or not.

I used to look after our pool when I was a teenager in the 1980s. Throughout the years, I recall having many a Hayward Pump's motor rebuilt. I didn't give it a second thought when it happened every couple of years. Haywards were, of course, installed for the water sheers and filter when my parents built their new house around 2000. I had two that were fried and just sitting there since the small engine company went out of business years ago until a few months ago. So, after the last one died, I decided to order another Hayward from Amazon because it's already measured and plumbed for the Super II. My sister and I spent a significant amount of time putting the system together. It didn't work out. I eventually had to call an electrician and then a pool company. We returned the unit because it was defective, and we re-ordered it. I plumbed for a Pentair (which took a lot of time, by the way). The Pentair pump had some manufacturing defects, and the Amazon seller promised to assist us, but it still works and is incredibly quiet. So I made the decision that I couldn't spend any more time this year installing another pump. FINAL VERDICT: Go with a different pump manufacturer, according to someone who has DECADES of experience with Hayward pumps. If Hayward has any problems with this, I have a graveyard of pumps that they can use. To their credit, every other Hayward product appears to be of good quality and lasts a long time.
I was concerned about finding the right pump to replace the old one. I contacted Hayward, and they assisted me in selecting the proper one, which alleviated a lot of my concerns. When the pump arrived, everything was in perfect working order. Now it's time to put everything together. To double-check that my plumbing plan would work, I enlisted the assistance of a neighbor friend. Breakers were turned off and power lines were disconnected. The PVC line leading into the old pump was cut with a hacksaw; fortunately, the water line into the filter has a hand tightened connection, so we removed the entire section leading from the pump to the filter. We were able to manually remove the entire line, wrap it in new Teflon tape, and install the new pump. We threaded a 2" adapter connection onto the new pump inlet that I purchased. We used PVC primer and cement to squeeze the new adapter into the old PVC that remained after the actuator was removed. We waited 20 minutes for the connection to dry, and then I restored power, and it worked perfectly. We spent 25 minutes from start to finish, plus 20 minutes waiting.
I found it difficult to give this pool pump a rating because I had to replace a 15-year-old pool pump. The same Super II pump in a 20-year-old version. motor. The previous system worked well in general. The new system is by far the best in the world. However, in comparison to the older version, the new motor wiring design is a disaster. There is about one square inch to work with once the 230 v wires "sneak" into the compartment. The red is being bent It was nearly impossible to fit black wires into that space (which included a vertical dimension of about 1/2 inch) with crimp connectors on the wire ends. The old Super II motor, on the other hand, had a lot of space to work with. Design flaw in the motor!.
These pumps irritate me greatly. The cracks and warps in the body. The lid seals must be replaced on a regular basis, as the threads on the lid break off. Buy a Tristar if you have an extra $10. Alternatively, a hushed stream. Ps. Pentair, unlike Hayward, does not charge to come out and fix a problem that is covered under warranty, and their customer service is far superior. Hayward has deteriorated to the point where he can no longer be trusted.
I've had this model of pump on my pool circuit for 11 years, plus a few for the previous owner (I'm not sure how many). The old one was functional, but I had rebuilt it because of its location, which made it difficult to overhaul in place. I chose this because it was virtually identical to the previous one and could be installed in the same way. Despite a few plumbing alterations and re-installations, It took three hours to put the power cable in place. I made use of the CMP high-definition projector. To make it easier to pull the piping out for maintenance, use temporary unions to connect the piping.
Because it was more expensive ($800 vs $300-$400), I assumed it would be better for my pool. 400). My assumptions were incorrect. From the moment it was installed, the pool made strange noises. After 5 months, it went silent for a short time, and I assumed it had died, but it was still pumping. Cool! I assumed it had "fixed" itself or that something had come loose, and everything was fine until about a week later when it began to be loud again, and died two days later. It now trips the breaker every time it tries to start. br>br>If there was a negative star for "value for money," I would give it to it.
It's an exorbitant price to only use two. There were five summers in total. Because it is associated with quality, I chose this name brand. This time, however, that was not the case. At the end of last summer's season, we reported that it was having trouble taking noises. They came in spurts. This year's problem is the same as last year's, and it's now a total failure.
Dislike was shipped immediately, and it took eight days to drive three hours; the box was damaged, but the pump was not. It does exactly what it says on the tin. We had to reroute the water line because the StaTite pump we were replacing wasn't as "plug and play" as the instructions suggested. The tool for opening filters is one of our favorites. That's great, because our previous one was a pain.
