Questions & Answers

Is it possible to leave these up all year? I was wondering if they could be left on the roof because we have snow here. ?

If it snows, the temperature will be below freezing. If copper piping freezes, what happens to it? It shatters into a thousand pieces. In order to prepare for the winter, you'd have to drain it.

What exactly are the included accessories?

Everything you'll need is included in the package. There are several packages available. Before beginning installation, make sure you've received all of your shipments.

Tennessee is where I currently reside. ?

It will raise the temperature by ten degrees. Our swimming season has been extended, but it is still too cold for us to swim in the winter.

What is the method for attaching these to the roof?

They're secured at the top rail with straps that screw down and four bands that span the widths of the unit and are screwed into the roof.

We used unions between each panel to make it simple to remove one if it was damaged or needed to be replaced
5/5

Since installing six of these panels, the pool has maintained a temperature of around 90 degrees. I did receive a damaged panel, but their customer service was able to send me a replacement within three days, so it was still a five-star experience. Instead of using the provided connectors, we placed unions between each panel to make it easier to remove one if it was damaged or began to leak.

So far, everything has gone swimmingly
5/5

I did a lot of research and decided on the SunQuest, which I installed on my roof myself. Even in full sun at around 80 degrees, unrolling them was the most difficult part. The instructions were precise, and the kits were fully assembled. It took me about 5 hours to install the plumbing up to the roof edge, and another 3 hours to complete the rest of the plumbing. Before installing the Pentair controller, I ran it manually for about a week. I hooked up the controller to the VS pump, installed the valve controller, and set the speeds, and it's now completely automated. It's not necessary for me to handle it. I'm also getting about a degree of extra pool temperature per day because I was turning it off way too soon.

Overall, it was an excellent investment
4/5

I purchased six 2X12 panels and installed them on the shed roof near the in-ground pool. 20x40 on the ground It took some time to figure out the best way to install it because it came with a lot of optional parts that were dependent on the setup. However, once I figured it out, it was relatively simple, and after only a couple of days, the water temperature began to rise. Rather than sitting directly on the roof shingles, I built a simple 2x4 wood frame for it to sit on. One issue is their website, which is unhelpful and very generic; the owner's manual claims that you can register the product on the website, but this was not the case. I had to fill out and mail in a paper form. Oh, and after 5 minutes of use the first time I turned it on, one of the panels became disconnected. I reconnected it using the clamps that came with it and turned it back on. It happened again after 5 minutes. I double-checked everything before turning it back on to make sure I hadn't missed anything. After 5 minutes, it had popped off! To cut a long story short, the PSI on my pump is low. The filter was set to 30, but after some tweaking, I was able to lower it to 20, and it stopped disconnecting. According to the owner's manual, it can withstand pressures of up to 50 PSI, but this has not been my experience.

SunQuest isn't going to replace a leaking panel
3/5

in it. I'm not happy that one of the solar panels has a pinhole leak and SunQuest is refusing to replace it. From the beginning, there has been a leak. I had no choice but to attempt to repair the pin hole because it was already installed. With epoxy and a clamp, we were able to fix it. SunQuest wants us to remove the epoxy now to show that there is a leak beneath it. br>Customer service gets zero stars.

After-sale service was excellent
5/5

Let's start with the bad. The item was damaged when it arrived. I contacted the seller, who responded within minutes and sent a replacement panel to replace the one that had been damaged. There is no need to be concerned. Unexpected things occur. br>br>The directions were simple and straightforward. I followed their instructions, got the system up and running, but my pump wouldn't prime the next morning; I manually primed it, turned off the water to the panels, and it started. After trying a few troubleshooting options online, I contacted the company for help, and the tech support rep worked tirelessly with me, even responding on weekends and holidays, to track down the problem, which turned out to be a very small leak in a valve that was not part of the solar system. I thought the level of knowledge and helpfulness was among the best I'd ever experienced in terms of customer service. The panels are functioning properly! br>br> This business comes highly recommended from me!.

It's a good idea, but the execution is difficult
3/5

In Florida, where the sun shines brightly all day, these panels do a good job of heating the pool. The installation, on the other hand, was neither simple nor inexpensive. This was due in part to the fact that the size exceeded the specifications. The width of the panel installed, according to my contractor, was 22 inches, not 20 inches. A further complication was that we could only fit three panels in, which was an odd number. He needed to add an extra return pipe to the side where the intake pipe was because of the odd number. He had to buy it separately at Home Depot because it wasn't included in the kit, and they only had white pipes, not black like this kit. br>The panel's quality is also questionable. I bought three panels, and one of them began to leak after only a few days. The replacement is covered by the manufacturer, but not the additional labor required to get someone back on the roof and swap the good panel for the bad. Before the replacement can be authorized, they need photos of the leak and the part number. That means paying someone to climb up on the roof and photograph the part number as requested.

These items are fantastic! Wow, what great customer service! These items are fantastic! The pool warmed up by 15 degrees in about 8 days, thanks to excellent customer service
5/5

I live in Cincinnati, and my yard is moderately shaded, with the pool receiving about 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. On the Monday after Mother's Day, the pool reached 90 degrees. We're about ten days ahead of my non-heated acquaintances in the pool!.

The SolarQuest panels have proven to be very durable
5/5

These panels were purchased to replace those that had been installed in 2010. Despite being installed on top of asphalt shingles on our porch roof, the originals have held up well. During the winters in Maine, snow and ice collect sand, causing pinholes in the channels. No - Flex Seal isn't going to work for you. Neither is the aftermath. 11 years is a lot longer than I anticipated. The process of installation is also simple.
