Keep my fingers crossed because it appears regularly positive reviews are hard to come by for ANY brand of I went to the pool guy who installed the unit. He said he has installed dozens of such models and they're "reliable". It may be true, but reviews often lead to the conclusion that the unit itself lasts for a few years, but then breaks down and is expensive.
My only complaint is that the rust gets to it very quickly and the switch does not remain on, I had to force it to turn on in the second year, and now I am afraid to try and shut I had two of these, but the first one after about three years rusted away. The second one appears to be on its way as well.
You're going to need this heater to replace the heat exchanger for around $400 or $500. Save your money when it comes to this heater. One year has gone by and mine has stopped turning off after leaking all over it. Poor water chemistry is to blame for any problems you have with Raypak. And, yeah, we can't give any warranty due to Your money will be saved! There is nothing of value in it.
