Questions & Answers

Once opened, how long does this product have a shelf life?

You are advised to change out each of your reagents every year, but I believe that you can extend the shelf life if you keep the containers in a cool, dark environment with tight fitting caps. My current one will last for two years before it needs to be replaced.

Model # is R- I noticed it's for a product I just bought It is 0013. Can I use this product with the R-type water treatment system Can you tell me more about the 0013 reagent I use right now?

Are there any Cyanuric acid test kits that will work with this product? Can you give an example of ?

In fact, it is the CYA measurement solution you use. Drop fifty percent pool water into the vial of chlorine test water in your K2005 kit, then observe the point at the bottom of the vial when the black dot is no longer visible. This represents the level of chlorine in the pool. Congratulations, you have completed the task. To ensure a successful mixing session, follow mixing and time restrictions

I am not sure why this bottle is giving me a cYA reading of 0 when it has a It gave me an 80ish reading when I put 75 in it? There were 30 days between the tests and 17,000 gallons of water were used. I appreciate it. ?

It is possible here that two factors are at play A chemical reagent that has one out of date is considered outmoded, and two is considered outmoded. Did you use a chlorine sanitizer which breaks down to produce cyanuric acid when it breaks down as a byproduct -- The troublefreepool website has more information. Details can be found at the website.

I hope you knew what you were buying, it's not cyanuric acid! Reagent bottle that's over 20 years old
5/5

You'll have to buy it just after you do one test because reagents are consumed in the test. If you buy it when you buy your kit, you'll have to buy it afterward. The stuff you use to test for cyanuric acid is not cyanuric acid, this is the stuff you use to make the test.

To have a good pool chemistry, it is imperative to check Cyanuric Acid levels
5/5

For a pool to be able to maintain good chemistry, Cyanuric acid levels need to be present at a certain level. According to Trouble Free Pools, a level of 40 to 50 is acceptable with the range being 30 to 60. As I slowly obtained 40 PPM of the freshly filled pool, I increased the PPM level to 24 As a result of utilizing the Taylor Tech K-Kit for measuring CYA more frequently, I am measuring my levels more frequently I use the bottle size 2006C, which is 60 ml. This 2 oz. bottle comes with three bottles of the same size. The total amount of liquid you use to run 25 tests is 7 ml. The refill bottle enabled me to refill the 8 2 ounce bottles, and I test frequently enough that I no longer need to worry about the product running out. A CYA level above 60 is bad as it will make chlorine needed to achieve the same results as one with a lower CYA level. *This had an expiration date of 11 months in the future (would have liked it to be longer, but it's better than 4 or 6 months). result in a vicious cycle and the only way to stop it is to buy an expensive tablet for every 10K gallons of pool water you have or to drain your pool water by at least 50% in order to start fresh. As soon as we are able, we use trichlor tablets, but are aware that they contain cyanuric acid, which will raise CYA levels, so as soon as some testing is done we stop using them and switch back to 10% chlorine.

CYA reaction reagent in a sealed bottle
3/5

The mail arrived in the middle of the month This will be the last week in August. The first time I took the test, I was surprised to see that I had no CYA in my above-ground pool Despite the ground pool being fairly clear, the water looked blue. There has been some CYA added. After a few days, the results were again positive The black dot would not disappear, even after filling up the tube to the brim with water. The number of CYAs has been increased. Short story long this bottle of Taylor's insisted on showing no or minimal CYA in the pool during testing. Algae began to appear in the pool as I continued adding CYA. The pool is not a good place to shock repeatedly A chlorine level of a few percent would be present within hours. Although the reagent continually showed no or low levels of CYA in the pool, the pool would not hold chlorine. As you may know, I used a test strip which included the CYA test yesterday (which I normally evade). There was a great deal of CYA going on. It must have taken me three pounds of CYA to gain three pounds of weight All that remains is to drain the pool and refill it. The 'use by' date is July 2022. It must have been a defective bottle, as so many people, speaking highly of this product, speak highly of it.

A product that has expired in the month it was delivered
3/5

With very few exceptions, Taylor formulates its reagents so that they remain effective for at least one year. Generally speaking, it is advisable for us to replace all reagents older than 1 year or at the start of a new season of testing. In light of the above, on 6/9/2018 Crushing Deals sent me a 16oz bottle that is supposed to last for one It is expiring on June 18, according to the product sent to me. It was implied that the goal was to deliver a new batch to get as close to a year as possible, instead of one that expired the same month as the current batch. It's important to assume that this is a mistake and not a result of Quality Assurance deliberately pushing it through.

The bottle is big, there are a lot of tests
5/5

I bought this for the 2018 season after it ran out at the end of last season. The big jug was recommended by the manufacturer as you go through it the fastest! Came as described with a validity date of Aug 2020, so hopefully it will last through next season. The Taylor product is designed for direct refill of the bottles in your Taylor If you want to reuse older bottles, take off the tops, fill them with new water, then store in a safe place until you need to refill them.

It is always more economical to buy a larger bottle
5/5

Be sure to compare the price of the larger bottles to those of the smaller bottles whenever you need to replace a reagent in your Taylor kit. If you switch, you won't have to order as frequently and it will cost less as well. Transferring from the larger bottles to the smaller ones to fit into the Taylor kit box is a thing I do. The left overs should last for a long time if you keep them in a cool area. For a test involving cyanuric acid, you have to use so much that the little bottles don't last very long.

This is what I used to replenish my K-supplies I have a kit from 2006
5/5

There are 13 in my kit, but I ran out Obviously, I haven't had a chance to use the 2006 kit (cya issue last year) and this bottle is going to expire before I have a chance to look through it. You should keep it in a cabinet that does not get overly much light and replenish the test bottles when necessary. There are approximately 10 in this picture. For CYA, 5 kits worth of regent are needed.

It is convenient to have a large size
5/5

Water testing chemicals made by Taylor are of high quality. The CYA test requires a lot of reagents, so I'm happy that this large size is available. Ideally, this is not a testing procedure that needs to be repeated often in an established pool. However, for each test, 1 ml of the product will be necessary.

(Note It is possible to repeat the test using the same mixture of water and reagent if you wish Triple-check that you have not made any mistakes Get a hold of the results as soon as possible. Fill up your mixing bottle with it again, and then pour it into the testing tube once more.
