Questions & Answers

Is it true that the tabets are 1" in diameter?

Yes, two 25-pound containers are available.

Is it true that bromine tablets have a shelf life?

Bromine tablets age in three different ways, which are listed below in chronological order: br> First, when the tablets are divided into bags (which isn't a feature listed for this product), the bags that divide the tablets into portions inside the bucket become brittle after a few months and disintegrate into small fragments, which are scooped into the bromine feeder and must be fished out. (They float) When you get the bucket, empty any bags into it and discard them before they disintegrate, except for what you'll use in the next three months. Second, over time, the tablets tend to degrade and disintegrate into powder due to the destruction of their own binder. It doesn't appear to be an issue with my feeder, but I have one with a 1 foot diameter that is over-sized. Designed for the pool and set to a low speed. At the bottom of the feeder, the powder forms a cake/sludge that dissolves slowly, similar to a tablet. Because the cake has a smaller surface area than a stack of tablets, it may not dissolve as quickly in some situations. br> Finally, bromine tablets gradually outgase and lose their effectiveness; they outgase at least 2 or 3 times slower than chlorine tablets and much slower than liquid chlorine, but it still happens. It is beneficial to store things in a cooler environment. Bromine tablets, stored at 80°F for 12 months, appear to be around 1/2 strength, but this is just my opinion. When the tablets disintegrate into powder, it slows down how quickly they dissolve in the feeder, making it difficult to determine whether a pound packs 1/3, 1/2, or 2/3 of the sanitizing effect it did a year ago.

Why does the product description state that the tablets should not be added through the skimmer?

Because it's a chemical that gets sucked right into the pump and heater instead of being diluted in water. This is too caustic for a heater, and it will void the warranty. Chemicals should never be used in the skimmer.

Is it true that these tablets are packaged in plastic bags?

NO, and there was dust on the bottom, which amounted to a waste of approximately 3. In one's that do bag them, there are four bags worth. br> Every few months, I select a new brand from which to receive magazines. When they're bagged up, they seem to work much better. Granted, the powder was used. However, I had to dig it up and separate it in order to gradually feed it in over the months. br> This is a brand that I will never buy again.

I couldn't find a better price anywhere else for the same product
5/5

There are no bags, just one-inch bromine tablets in a large bucket. I was able to find the cheapest price per pound by far. It takes some detective work to figure out how to open the bucket; you must first pull the red tab straight up, then twist the cover off while holding the red tab up. Once you know what you're doing, it's not difficult. The bucket arrived quickly, but it must be signed for by someone who is at home. I'm not sure how long the bromine tablets will last, but it will be the same for any one-inch bromine tablets you buy, regardless of where you buy them. You simply need to decide whether you will use 50 pounds quickly enough for the lower price to offset any degradation over time, which I believe you will given the significant savings per pound. BTW. br>br> I've started putting two or three in each of my toilets' water tanks. It's a lot less expensive than "official" toilet chlorine tabs, and it's just as effective. Given how much those toilet ones cost, this really saves a lot of money.

There are no disintegrating small bags
5/5

The bromine we previously purchased was obtained from the swim. It was a good product, but the bromine tablets were packaged in small bags to make things easier for the customers. Unfortunately, the small bags disintegrate, leaving a mess and occasionally clogging the bromine dispenser with plastic bag fragments. In addition, you'd end up with bits and pieces of this and bromine in the bottom of the bucket, rendering it useless and wasteful. We were on the lookout for a new vendor. These bromine tablets are the same as the ones above, but they're less expensive, even with shipping. We'll keep ordering this brand, but we'll transfer it to the feeder with a cut-off water jug and a plastic scoop. It functions properly. br>br>Update 2 years later. These tablets work just as well as any other, but they crumble after a while (as do all tablets) and you end up with a lot of waste, so don't buy more than you'll use in a season; you're not saving money if you have to throw some away because it's no longer a tablet. As a side note, the in the swim brand has improved their little bags, and they don't appear to be disintegrating as quickly as they once did. I now simply purchase whatever brand is the cheapest. br>br>As a sanitizer, I prefer bromine to chlorine because it is odorless and effective.

Bromine is a fantastic compound
5/5

Bromine is a chemical that we use in our in-house manufacturing process. For the past 20 years, I've had an above-ground pool. It's pricey, but it doesn't contain chlorine! Yes, it's still an oxidizer, but it won't bleach, is closer to neutral pH, and doesn't require a stabilizer (because it isn't affected by heat or UV like chlorine). When someone says they have a "salt water pool" and don't use chlorine, I think it's hilarious. When you explain that they still use chlorine, they are always in complete disbelief. Anyway, this is a great price for an excellent product, especially since it comes with free shipping. br>br>NOTE: if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, this is the place to be When it is delivered, you must be present to sign for it.

A fantastic product at an affordable price!! We've been using this product for a few years and have been extremely pleased with the results
5/5

I considered switching to salt, but my pool guy informed me that it only produced Chlorine and that the transition would be difficult. So I'm going to stick with Bromine for the time being. Our old pool service sold us bromine at a much higher price, (25% more), so I am so happy we found this product. You will need to sign for it because they can.

I looked locally and online for a good product
5/5

There were several sites, including the major pool sites, that advertised "free shipping" but charged a $10 handling fee. With only $5, this was the most cost-effective option. It cost $95 to ship and took only three days to arrive. days. The percentage of available bromine is higher than in other brands I've tried, and the results are excellent. In terms of shipment notification, the seller communicated well. This order saved me at least $50, and I discovered a new source for high-quality pool chemicals. I'm extremely pleased with the results.

Several Tablets are available
5/5

I'm not sure what to say. Bromine tablets are what they are. They carry out their duties to the letter. What I like best about it is how little broken up bromine dust there is at the bottom. I've previously purchased bromine tablets from spa stores, which not only cost more per pound but also left about 5 pounds of powder in the bucket's bottom. Not powder, but tablets are what I'm paying for. I now order this product instead of the others. I'm going to the spa store down the street.
