either: It is appropriate for in-home use. I have a line spa system, but for a "shock treatment," I simply float the cartridge in the spa at level 2 or 3, and the bromine level is completely restored within a day or two, at which point I remove the cartridge.
The purple containers are the same size as the yellow containers, but they hold a little more product.
Unfortunately, this is the answer. It is dependent on the situation. The more you use the spa, the more frequently you'll need to change your towels. I have mine set to the maximum setting and change it every 4 weeks or so, depending on how much I use it. More bromine, more stabilizer, and more frequent water adjustments are all associated with increased use.
There is a 12-pack available. A ten pack, however, is not available.

These were purchased to replace the purple cartridge that came with my hot tub when I first purchased it. The purple setting was set to 2 and lasted for 3 months, with test strips indicating readable levels. This is what I replaced it with. On water test strips, I've gone up to 6 and there's no detectable level. I should have gone back and purchased the purple cartridge. This year, in the pool chemical section of Walmart, I saw a floater and bromine tablets, so I tried 2 tablets in the floater set on 1 and, you guessed it, detectable levels were shown!.
Instead, it sunk to the tub's bottom, along with some of the powder from the tube. I'm guessing it's past its sell-by date. I didn't start using it until after the return window had closed. This is the last time I'll buy from this vendor.
Since we bought our hot tub, we've been using Spa Frogs. Simple and dependable. On Amazon, there is a good deal. These are what I use with the mineral cartilages that are blue in color. It eliminates the hassle of chasing down the chemicals in the tub.
They only lasted a few days, even at the lowest setting. I'm not sure if they're fake or not, but they didn't work as well as the ones I'd previously received.
In our brand new Marquis Epic spa, it performs flawlessly. With biweekly hot tub usage, they appear to last about a month. 450 gallons is the capacity of our tub. Keeping your hot tub clean is a breeze with these.
I've been using the frog system for a few years and it's the best set it and forget it system I've ever used. The test strips say that the water is perfect.
There is a faint odor, but it is far preferable to chlorine, and there are no faded suits or stinging eyes. For crystal-clear water, combine with spa frogs mineral.
