Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use this for an in-ground pool as well?

Yes, this cleaner has the ability to do so.

How many cycles can I use this vacuum for in one day?

When the filter needs to be cleaned, it will turn off. In one day, I was able to clean mine three times. I'm sure it could have gone on for as long as was required.

I'm looking for a fine partical filter, but I'm not sure where to find one. ?

Amazon is a fantastic resource for finding information.

Can you use a heavy-duty extension cord to connect the power box to the pool? My power supply is 12 feet away from the pool, and I have a 27-foot above-ground round pool. ?

It will work as long as the extension cord and the power supply plug are kept dry and not wet.

Out with the old, in with the new: a story about two cleaners
5/5

As a result, I've been going through some difficulties. I'll say it again: For over 5 years, I've been living with a Kreepy Krauly Great White, which costs over $400. For a long time, I'd been interested in robotic cleaners, and this project came in two parts. 1) Remove the majority of the tree limbs that drop leaves into the pool, and 2) invest in a REAL robotic pool cleaner. This weekend, we finished step one. We cut as many limbs as we could, and the area above the pool is now completely clear. Step 2 began on Monday, when I came across this robotic vacuum cleaner out of nowhere, with several positive reviews and a $50 rebate, so I figured, why not? The vacuum arrived yesterday (Wednesday), but I had work to do first: hauling three massive piles of tree limbs from the tree cutters to the streets for collection by city waste. After 3 hours, I was able to clear the two piles next to the pool. Then I had to take down the pool's winter net, which had previously served as the only barrier against leaves and debris. Of course, removing the net means all the debris stuck around the net's edges will most likely end up in the pool, which, FYI, already had a lot of debris in it due to my Kreepy Krauly Great White's refusal to go to the shallow end. EVER. So we have a clogged pool, and I removed the Great White and photographed it for an ebay auction. I was ecstatic when I first saw the Dolphin Escape. I was eager to give it a go. It was ready to use as soon as it was removed from the packaging. After completely untangling the power cable, I dropped the thing in the water and hit start; an hour later, the pool looked like the photo I attached. Granted, it didn't get everything out the first time around. I let it run for another cycle before going to bed, and when I awoke, 99 percent of the debris had vanished. I couldn't believe my eyes. I took it out, opened the lid, and discovered everything in the debris canister. It was simple to empty it, wash it with a hose, and reassemble it. I untangled and coiled the power cable onto the unit, then placed it upside down in my storage shed as instructed so it could rest after all of its hard work. I can't express how happy I am with my purchase. I also purchased the available 4-year extended warranty, which I strongly advise you to do as well. I'd say this is a huge win, especially since it lasts so long; I'm thinking I'll have to do it maybe twice or three times a week during the winter, but I might not even need the pool net! EDIT: br>br> When the cleaner changes directions, it lifts off the ground and floats, causing it to wheelie. When I contacted Maytronics, they informed me that this is a feature, not a bug. That is difficult for me to believe, but I cannot hold it against them because it cleans properly every time. br>br>7/20/17 EDIT - The device continues to perform admirably. It's something I use once a week and have never had any issues with. I will emphasize to you that you should purchase the extended warranty. It's almost unheard of to get an extended warranty on a pool cleaner, and it's cheap, so take advantage of it. However, this machine continues to perform admirably! br>br>Fast forward to the year 2020- The device is still in excellent condition. My ONLY gripe with this thing is that it does stupid wheelies every time it changes directions due to a design flaw. This isn't a feature, by the way. It's not cleaning if you're popping wheelies.

Torture was put to the test, and it was found to be ineffective
5/5

I basically put this thing through its paces. Over the winter, I mostly neglected my pool. Then we had our deck refinished, which resulted in a large amount of sawdust in the pool. The images depict the robot's first couple of strips, which ranged from yellow to blue in color. The other image depicts the amount of water in the bucket after several days of use. This is a fantastic device.

This is a good unit
4/5

It is necessary to include an ultrafine filter! We had to replace a 6 year old Aquabot Jr. because it had become worn out. It was always adequate, but cleaning the filter media was a pain. This unit is vastly superior to the previous one. It does an excellent job, the line does not tangle, and the filters are simple to clean. So far, everything has gone well. It's only been a month since we got it. It cleans our above-ground pool, which is 18x33 feet in size, and leaves no stone unturned. br>The reason I didn't give it five stars is because the filter that comes with it doesn't capture fine particles. A $70 ultrafine filter must be purchased. Dolphin, you're not doing well. That ought to be included in the price of this unit. br>However, this cleaner is one that we would recommend.

This device is incredible
5/5

I bought it because I was desperate to close my pool before it got too cold and started to freeze, and I couldn't find anyone to help me. I'm sick, and I don't have the energy or strength to use a net to remove the leaves from the bottom. I threw it in the pool as soon as I got it and was blown away by how well it sucked up the leaves and debris. The pool's pump and filter aren't used at all. It's simple to put it in and remove it from the pool, and I can lift it. When you have as much junk on the bottom of the pool as I did, and still do, it has a basket that needs to be emptied frequently, but it's simple to clean out. It also prevents the cord from becoming tangled. I use an alternate power supply because I don't have a nearby outlet. You are not permitted to use an extension cord in any way. I never got around to properly closing the pool, but it'll be useful when it's time to reopen it. This will keep the pool clean after the initial spring cleaning because it will always eat the leaves that fall into the pool, which are a pain to fish out all the time, and it will not have to be emptied as often. It will pay for itself in the long run because the leaves are what cause more algae, which means you'll have to add more chemicals. I prefer the BBB method (baking soda, bleach, and borax) because it's less expensive and easier to use. Also, make sure you have a professional water test kit. The Taylor K2006 is what I use. I chose this robotic cleaner after extensive research and have no regrets about spending the money.
