It's alright to apply at the same time. I do that all the time. Each year I apply this product 7 to 10 days after the LAST frost (usually early to mid March in my area of NYC), that way the soil has already softened and the products can do their job, and at the same time I apply Scotts brand crabgrass prevention. I used this stuff on my yard that had a really bad grub problem. Upon finding this on Amazon, I searched for something better for the dying grass in my yard. Do not be fooled by the appearance of the package. I should have given more attention to its weight. After spreading this in my spreader and watering it in, I checked the soil after two days and made sure that it was not overly acidic. There were a lot of dead grubs. It was worth every penny to find those grubs.
