No, I do not believe that is true. Because it's made of oil, it needs to be heated in order to produce fog. A propane cylinder is used to light a coil, which heats the product and produces the fog in the digger machines.

You don't know what you're missing if you've never used a fogger to clear your yard. Rather than buying can after can of yard guard, invest in a fogger and spray with this solution. For hours, it clears a yard of mosquitos, ticks, and other pests.
