A handle broke away from the head on one of them. Some of the other heads cracked or chipped, and eventually the pieces broke into pieces, rendering them useless. The old plastic is probably more flexible in part because it has some chemical added, but it is also more hazardous for.
The pros are It is made of very thick material, so a larger bug will not be able to enter. For the money, this is a good value pack. The cons are It is true that they tend to fall apart if you pull them with a lot of force. No matter how I choose, I have used 2 of these packs this year and I would follow the same path.
My lantern fly trap just broke, since I used it less than six times trying to get my lantern flies in my backyard. I just got it yesterday and have been using it today. Though it appeared to be well made, it probably can't handle being hit by bugs when on hard surfaces such as lawn chairs, because this sweater broke in half when I hit it. I don't like it. The livestock I own is my own. Occasionally we get flies inside the house, so these were purchased to use in the house. The first one was cracked and broken after a month. I don't think it's a big deal since it's okay so far.
