Questions & Answers

Is it possible to sanitize this fly swatter?

A chemical or thermal clean-up would be a no-go for me. That is not liked by organic materials (in this case, wood and leather). My method would be to wipe the bug guts off the paddle with a damp cloth or paper towel, place the swatter in direct sunlight for about an hour, then recondition the leather with a drop or two of antimicrobial olive oil. Add a drop of colloidal silver to the mix if you truly want to go uptown.

Please tell me this isn't going to stain my white walls. I, too, recently purchased it. It's a big no-no to use marks. ?

Regrettably, they are no longer being produced in the manner in which they once were
3/5

I bought one of these fly swatters in dk brown back in 2016. It's still something I use. It's still going strong, and I'm still a big fan of it! It's the ideal fly for WHAM- The sound it makes gives you a sense of satisfaction against the annoying pests, and the leather thickness, swatter pad size, quality of the wood, length of the handle, and craftsmanship make it PER in every way. Regardless of whether you succeed or fail. Aside from the excellent craftsmanship, It's in a good place and in the right place. The leather has held up well as it has aged and worn, and the handle has no cracks. It is kept hanging indoors when not in use because it is both functional and attractive, and I value handcrafted tools. br>br>Looking ahead to 2018: I went out and bought three more of these the other day - I sent one to a friend who is dealing with a deer fly infestation, one to my husband, and one extra. They don't match the description or the original (as shown in the photo). They've increased in price, but the handles have shrunk in size, and the wood no longer feels the same. The swatter's pad is the same size as before, but 1/16" thinner (which matters as they wear and age), and it isn't balanced or aligned - In a wonky manner, it veers to the left. br>My friend had no idea what the difference was, but my husband did! Clearly, I felt the same way. He's all eye-candy right now. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no Rather than throwing a piece of leather at the flies and hoping for the best, I want to kill them - With such a short handle, the reach simply isn't there. So, to whom it may concern: br>br> Customers who purchase handcrafted items are usually willing to pay a little more because we value handcrafted items and expect them to be better than the bare minimum, above-average quality. materials that aren't up to snuff, and/or craftsmanship that isn't up to I sincerely hope that the people who create this product are concerned enough to listen to their customers and restore it to its former glory. Please.
. It's depressing. br> I'm glad I got the original one when I did, but I'm not going to buy another one unless they bring back the original product with the same level of care and craftsmanship as my first one. And, unless my friend wants to return hers as well, I'll be returning two of the three I bought. In that case, you'll get all three back.

I've never used a better fly swatter
4/5

Yes, a flyswatter is quite pricey. It is, without a doubt, a first-world purchase. It is, however, made of high-quality, thick leather with a secure oak handle. br>br>I'd like to see the handle made of a slightly thicker piece of wood, because even though it's made of a strong piece of oak, I could see it breaking if you smacked it against the edge of a table or something while swatting a fly with enough force. You never know where those pesky flies will land, so you have to seize each opportunity as it arises. Things just happen from time to time. br>br>When I first got it, the leather seemed a little dry, so I slathered it in a generous amount of mink oil (which I had on hand for my boots) before using it. I let the mink oil soak in for a few days before wiping away the excess, which left it nice and supple. I've had it for almost a year and it's performed admirably. br>br>I also sprayed the handle with a couple coats of clear lacquer finish to seal it and make the grain look richer. (Isn't that interesting? Are you concerned about the grain on a fly swatter's handle? All of my genuine issues must be resolved. ) The lacquer, on the other hand, did a nice job of sprucing it up. br>br>It works well, feels good in the hand, and is fun to use even if you miss the fly because you know what you're missing with a well-designed fly. Fly swatter that has been well-made and of good quality.

Would 100% buy again and I have considered giving as gifts, but I would order them ahead of time and do the mink oil and lacquer thing.

A good fly swatter or a flimsy Bondage tool? It ensures that whatever fly you hit will have a low survival rate when swatting
4/5

It has a sturdy wooden handle and a flexible leather flap, so you can do whatever you want with it. It is something I would recommend to first-time visitors to the United States. The price is quite high, which is why the rating is only four stars.

Extremely long lasting
4/5

Strike with caution when using the wooden handle. There are advantages and disadvantages to being thicker. Due to water damage caused by a hole in the roof, we had to replace our ceiling recently. Our attic is infested with red wasps, and we had 30 red wasps coming into the house every day after the ceiling caved in. I was looking for a more durable flyswatter that I wouldn't have to replace every month because the plastic fly swatters were breaking and wearing out. This fly swatter is made of leather. It appears to be long-lasting, as the leather appears to be in good condition. The wood handle is the only area where I can see a problem with durability. If you smack something with the end of this fly swatter rather than the handle, you risk breaking the wood. However, wasps and flies are attracted to the leather. Everything is obliterated when it comes into contact with it. I was concerned because the holes were only large enough to allow air to pass through. It's difficult to tell from the photos how big it is, but it's about the same size as my standard plastic-bound notebook. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, hanger- a fly swatter made of wire For a visual comparison, see the image I've attached. br>br>The only disadvantage of this fly swatter over a traditional swatter is that once you've killed the bug, it's impossible to use it again. I always scoop up the bug with a fly swatter by laying it flat on the ground, pushing it underneath the bug by pushing it against a wall until it lands on top of the swatter, and then dumping it in the trash. This leather swatter is thicker than a regular swatter, and because of its size, it's much more difficult to get underneath the dead bug; it's annoying enough that I docked a star, but I still recommend this fly swatter, even if only as a conversation piece. Four out of five stars.

Ninja who kills bugs
5/5

A killer. This thing works great, and so far I've gone 15 for 15 with it. I swear I snatched one while in mid-flight! It was stunned before being killed. I've used this thing to kill flies, spiders, and crickets. I'm OCD, so I clean the leather part with a Clorox disinfecting wipe afterward, and it hasn't caused any damage thus far, and it's holding up well. It also has a nicer appearance than most, so I can hang it on the wall.
