This is a large metal campfire ring with a diameter of 4 feet. 1/8 inch thick heavy gauge metal br>br>When the grandkids came to visit the farm, we wanted to build a permanent campfire/fire pit. Teach them a little about camping, nature, the stars, fire safety, roasting marshmallows/hot dogs, making smores, and sitting around a camp fire telling ghost stories, singing songs as a family (rather than playing video games). The PD Metals Steel Campfire Fire Ring is a single solid permanent campfire ring. This is not a ring you can take camping with you. It's a big, heavy-duty, solid-metal piece made in the United States. Enough said. UPS delivered within 6 days of the order date, with free shipping and no sales tax in California. For $180, this is a fantastic deal. delivered right to your front door br>br>It took me 15 minutes to put this together. Simply align the 4 metal sides and vertical/horizontal elongated holes, then fasten everything together with the 8 provided bolts and nuts. Hardware is packaged and taped to one of the top card board pieces, and the 4 metal sides are all in one box. br>br>I dug a 6 inch deep 5'X5' pit. For a base, I filled it with 4" of sand, leveled it, and laid down a 4'X4' square of pavers. Cleaning up the ashes and debris from the fire would be simple, and the pavers would provide a level bed for the fire ring. For seating, we brought in four large oak stumps from a nearby dead tree. I leveled the dirt around the ring, added some rocks for decoration, a small grill accessory as a cooking option for the Dutch oven and cowboy coffee pot, and some 45" extension marshmallow sticks to keep the grandkids away. Now we have a TRUE campfire!br>br>Highly recommended for use as a permanent campfire ring. Strong and durable - For many years and family campfires to come, it will rust beautifully and look great in our side yard area.
This thing is absolutely amazing. It's definitely overpriced for what it is. I feel like you could get something made up at the fab shop for a little less money, but it was here in my driveway without the hassle of chasing down metal, rolling it out, and drilling it. This product comes in four sections, each of which is drilled twice on the end top and bottom. The fire ring is 48 inches across. After setting up the ring and spraying it with a spray, it started rotting quite badly. However, I decided to buy exhaust header paint, which is rated at 1200 and spray on the outside as well as the inside, hoping to prevent it from eroding so much.
Because the final panel overlapped more than usual, I simply bolted everything together except the final holes, and then drilled new holes. Because the overall curvature of the panels isn't too different, small adjustments like this (2" less in diameter) aren't a big deal. I'd guess you could go as small as 44" before the curvature of these things became too much to overcome, and you'd have to overlap a couple panels by half as much instead of allowing one panel to take the full extra (hope that makes sense). If my math is correct, a 2" diameter reduction results in an additional 6" of circumference overlap, so. Yes, it quickly adds up. br>br>Thickness appears to be adequate overall. It's not one of those super thick standalone rings you'll find at campgrounds, but I think it'll suffice for lining the inside of a brick/stone pit that isn't standalone.
This was an excellent product that arrived just in time to complete phase one of a Girl Scout Silver Award project, a Fire Pit at Red Rock Canyon Adventure Park in Hinton, Oklahoma. My daughter built the pit and finished it off with over 2000 pounds of rocks and concrete. We are so proud of her, and the PD Metals Steel Fire Ring in a 48-inch diameter has exceeded our expectations. Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful product.
I wanted a large enough ring to have campfires in as well as burn fallen branches and yard waste in, and a custom made ring would have cost about twice as much. The ring is extremely durable and simple to assemble. It is available in four different color options. heavy-duty steel sections that are simple to assemble. It takes less than 5 minutes to put this together.
The metal is just the right thickness to avoid being flimsy. it maintains its form It's free-standing on the ground for me.
This fire pit is absolutely gorgeous. We wanted something big and bulky for our back yard, and this fit the bill perfectly.
Steel of exceptional quality, heavy and thick. It'll take years for it to rust out. Easy to put together, excellent product that does exactly what it says on the box.
