A funnel helped me fill the base hole with sand. There is a hole in the base that should be filled with sand. Hot glue was used to reinforce the seal. In the process of setting the ball into place, you cannot see it. The one I have up has been up for over two years now, through three northern winters, and it looks just as good
It's not clear to me. A hole of about 1/4" in diameter is on the device, and you can plug it, but I'm not sure how it will affect
It does work that way for me. I strung an eye bolt into the hole and hung it at the corner of my house, near the back wall corner window. My previous one was smaller, so I went with a 12" size. Thanks to the larger one, I can see very clearly if there are kids playing behind or beside the house, or if there are deer nibbling nearby.
It is a true 12" in diameter, as I ordered it in 12".

As I was in quarantine, the animals (in my case the nearby lake ducks) were coming out of the woodworks and invading my pool, so I decided to try this reflective floating ball after careful research. Though it is very light and I thought it had great buoyancy, after a few weeks the ball is still floating but only about a third of its original size It is only visible from the surface in 1/4 of its total. As it sinks, it slowly fills up with water.
That is exactly what I was looking for. In excellent condition, does not seem like it will break if it falls off the stand. There is a slight seem on the front, but I am not aware of it unless I am.
The wind will not break the globe by blowing it off the stand because this world does not break.
The scenery is cool as long as you don't stare too closely at it. The one I had was scratched. So I was staring at it extremely closely for an art project and trying to get a very clear reflection.
In addition to the large seam connecting the two halfs, the large seam creates an eyesore by breaking the specular highlights. I was very disappointed, as I thought the ball would be seamless.
I received this as promised, packaged so there would not be any damage during shipment. In the garden, the ball reflects all the flowers because it is so shiny. A seller I recommend would be this one.
To use as props in the play, "The Wizard of Oz!", I purchased two of these! For the Wicked Witch, there is a large one, and for Professor Marvel, a smaller one. The items I ordered are just what I needed. In addition, since this play is with elementary aged children, I do not need to worry about the "crystal" ball breaking!.
She also wanted a light for her porch.
