It's a great alternative to an unsightly drain pipe because it has a copper chain attached to it. the same thing When it rains, the water cascades through the chain, creating a beautiful sound. My rain chain is one of my favorites.
My gutter hole is 2 inches deep. I used a 5" diameter hole and it worked fine; however, it should have some pipe coming down to focus the water into the bell; otherwise, the water will run all over the place instead of into the bell.
The bell at the chain's top has the following dimensions: width=4. 5"; 4 in. tall 5"; 1" in diameter at the bottom
The top is 3 inches wide from edge to edge. The top opening is 1/4 inch wide, while the bottom opening is 7/8 inch wide. With the help of a ruler, I calculated the dimensions.

To make my own rain chains, I bought some bulk decorative swag lamp chain from another Amazon site, folded a 16 foot piece in half, and attached it to this. br>Instead of $50-$100-$150-$200-$300-$300-$300- I'm currently making my own and they look great, depending on how much you're willing to pay. I only spent about $20 on the whole thing, and I'm only getting started. br>Check out the section on rain chains and tell me if I'm wrong. They're simple to install under an eave of your home, gutter or no gutter. br>To span that 90 degree angle right under the valley, I strung a piece of finer chrome chain across the fascia boards with some 2" deck screws with washers under them, and used a 2"-long 2"-long 2"-long 2"-long 2"-long 2"-long 2"-long 2"-long 2"-long 2"-long 2"-long 2"-long 2"-long 2"-long 2"-long The hanger is made with an 'S' hook. br>This is merely a mock-up. It looks great, but I'll come up with more ideas as time goes on.
I like how it looks like my rain chain and how well it directs water into it. The hole was too big to catch all of the water coming down because the old downspout adapter was still in place. I also threw in a couple of copper "chore-catchers. " During a heavy downpour, it has "boy" scrubbers above it to help slow down and manage the flow of water. Rather than using the included hanger, I chose to screw it to my downspout adapter.
Because my gutter's downspouts are slightly larger than the rain chain cup, water was draining directly to the ground. This adapter is big enough to catch gutter water and funnel it into the chain cup. Perfect! It's a little brighter than my chain, but I'm sure it'll develop a lovely patina over time. These are fantastic. You might not get a gutter hanger. br>br>Be aware that you might not get a gutter hanger. I placed an order for two. One did not have the hanger, while the other did. Our chains came with hangers, but the one with the adapter is shorter and sturdier, which is a good thing.
For my application, this is ideal. The down spout had been trimmed and the edges folded in, but the water was not taking to it because the edges were not smooth like a funnel. The water from the well is collected by this reall. br>br>However, I believe it would be unable to withstand a particularly heavy downpour. I put it to the test with a garden hose, and it couldn't keep up without dripping all over the place. br>br>This is my only complaint, and it has nothing to do with the project's quality. However, I bent the lower hook wire to hook on my chain, and I can't get it back to its original shape. This is more of a problem with my lack of access to the tool required to bend it. I'll figure it out, but for now everything is fine. br>br>The only thing that bothers me is that this is real copper (or so they say) and my chain won't rust because it's painted rather than actual copper.
We attached the adaptor to the gutter outlet using the gutter mount that came with the rain chain by straightening it out from the triangle shape it came in (the mount from the rain chain) and running it through the two screw holes left when we removed the existing downspout, through the upper link of the adaptor, and then bent the ends of our mount wire to secure them in the gutter opening. It does a great job of channeling water into our rain chain's lotus cups. Naturally, some water gushes during a heavy downpour, but it would gushe even more if this adaptor wasn't present. It is highly recommended.
I needed this to collect runoff for my fish rain chain, but the top side's diameter is a little small (I don't have a gutter or downspout in my situation). Finally, I used an extra funnel piece from the flower chain, which has a 1 - inch diameter. At the top, the opening is an inch larger in diameter. The diameter of the top receiving piece should be provided by the rain chain's manufacturer.
Spend a few extra dollars to make your installation look professional while also increasing its functionality if your budget allows it. The Monarch pure copper 'butterfly' rain chain was installed by my wife and me using this high-quality copper gutter adapter.
From the top of the funnel, water splashes all over the place. I like the product and think it's attractive, but I'm going to take it down.
