Questions & Answers
The gutter installer simply drops into the gutter hole (hole should be 2) and starts working. 25" in width). It hangs freely through the hole and is supported by a larger plate above the hole, so no screws are required. Although sealant isn't required, it can help prevent leakage around the hole's edges.
I installed the Rain Chain Copper Gutter Installer by cutting a hole in my new gutter and dropping/silicone caulking it in place. If your already cut hole (in the gutter) is the right size/round or at least smaller than the flat flange of this product, I would get rid of the old flange; if not, you may only want to cut away the part of your flange that covers the "tube" portion of this installer. Hopefully, the overall appearance will improve as a result of this.
This is intended to be attached to a gutter and used as a conductor to direct water away from it. Without a gutter, I'm not sure what you'd do with this.
Copper is a metal that is extremely "soft" and bendable. However. Without knowing the radius of your round gutter, I'm not sure if this installer would be able to help you. I believe that hanging your rain chain directly from the round gutter (without the use of this installer) is the best course of action. Cut a 2" diameter hole in the gutter and hang your rain chain using a small copper 1/2" diameter tube (x 6" length), putting the top piece/wire of your chain through the gutter hole and holding it up by running this copper tube along the bottom of the gutter through the top of said chain.

The copper rain chain worked perfectly with it, and the transition from the aluminum gutter to the copper chain was seamless. I simply requested that the gutter installer cut the downspout opening but not install them. It was a quick and easy job to install two of these.
When I first received this product, I was concerned that it was too small, as was another reviewer. I have two rain chains to handle the water from a 55-foot roof span (including one valley). The installers completed their work, and within 10 minutes, one of South Florida's notorious torrential rainstorms began. There was no issue after 30 minutes of torrential rain. Even the heaviest rain seems to be no problem for the spouts.
If you're installing a rain chain, this is an excellent product that is well worth the money. I've learned a few things that I'd like to share with you.
First, compared to the 4in down spout I had in place, this item reduced the opening for water to exit by approximately 50% from the 4in down spout I had% This could be a problem if there is a lot of rain. br>I discovered that I have a lot more leaves in my gutters than I previously thought. Even though I have leaf guards, enough small leaves got through and blocked the opening, causing the gutter to overflow. Because this is the only downspout I have on this gutter, I'm hoping to add a second drain. br>During the installation, use a lot of caulking. I thought I had added enough, but there is still a small leak that allows water to flow down the wall along a seam. Having said that, this is an excellent product. In the spring, I'll most likely purchase another.
Because my house is made of Rustic Red vinyl siding, I went with an antiqued copper rain chain. It's an incredible combination. The adaptor is of good quality. The cover plate, which finished off the visible gutter bottom, was a nice touch. br>On the same day that I installed the adaptor, It poured rain chain after rain chain after rain chain after rain chain after rain chain after rain Not only was it pouring, but there was also a strong wind blowing the rain away from the chain. When the wind died down, the chain did what it was supposed to do: it directed the rain down. br>I've already bought a second adapter to connect another downspout switch to a rain chain that matches. They're both at the garage's far end. They're both visible at the same time, and they're a lovely addition to my home. I'm really happy.
When I was getting new gutters installed, I lost the original scuppers for my rain chains and needed a replacement quickly. I took a chance on these because they were available and at a good price, and they did not disappoint. They were a total success. They've been in place for six weeks now. They're oxidizing (uncoated copper) and will soon resemble my older rain chains in appearance. This purchase has exceeded my expectations.
The gutter spout and chains are of exceptional quality and durability. They're doing their job well, and they're looking great. Installation takes some time, but from start to finish, we were able to drill the hole, install the spout, and caulk it in about 30 minutes.
Cons: They're a little pricey, but they're well worth it because they're so nice.
It was perfect for my gutter. I don't know what else to say except that this made installing my rain chain a breeze. This is a high-quality item that will look great with your copper rain chain, as others have stated. My wife loves it (which is the most important thing) and we've gotten a lot of compliments from our neighbors since I installed my rain chain.
I should have given it some thought and realized that these aren't meant for aluminum gutters. The product should come with a warning. br>They look great and I wish I could have used them. When I realized what had happened and attempted to return, I was told to keep the spout and given a refund. So friendly and helpful - or perhaps it wasn't worth Amazon's time and effort.
