Thanks for getting in touch with me! Using a wire screened feeder for sunflower kernels would not be recommended. Given that the seeds are unprotected and their shells have been removed, a tube or hopper feeder would be the best way to manage them.

It is simply impossible to compare. My seeds were clean and I had to look very hard for mystery debris such as leaves, twigs, dirt, etc. Even when filling my feeders, I had to evaluate the seeds for mystery debris. On the top of the bag at the point where you are supposed to cut open the bag, there is a date stamped on the crimp. As of June 2017, mine had been created.
