My two units have been installed side by side for about 10 years, since I have a submersible pump well that runs at 35 psi pressure (most municipal water is 50+) and a very expensive pump to replace, so I want to minimize the amount of stress on it. As the top popped off, the bottom popped off as well. Changing filters with this one is easier because it has an easier design to open and close. Despite the fact that I think it might not be a strong two person job, my wife can help me now. It was a simple matter to combine the older and newer models, and we were up and running in no time. In just those few days without it, I noticed a dramatic difference in the taste of the softener it protects.
It is very well designed and built. The new model is far superior to the old one. The piping had to be modified a bit but the end result is It is less likely to leak with this filter cup because it does not need to be tightened excessively as with it predecessor. It works best to hold your hands tightly. It has been reviewed by others as leaky. I have not experienced any leaks since I changed my filters two times. Exactly the same filter is in my car. In case anything were to happen to my old laptop, I wanted a backup. Originally, the lid on this unit was rotated around its axis and the outlets and inlets were scratched. I know it was already owned by someone else. It looks like they tried to place it in an area where it wasn't appropriate. Quite upset with how much I paid for this used filter housing - 46 plus tax. At the moment, I am afraid it may be stripped because I do not need to install it. The canister was covered in shavings.
It appears the filter does not have a bypass setting on the valve after I received it. On the box it states that it is a 2-way valve On or Off, but on Amazon's listing it is listed as a 3-way One of the things that really upset me was that someone's review back in 2010 also mentioned this. This description has not been updated for at least 7 years, making you wonder if any of them are accurate anymore.
It seems appropriate to provide my opinion given that I was not convinced most of the negative reviews were fair for this particular product. When I bought the house three years ago, I had an u25 filter already in place, and I haven't had a problem with it since then. Many others have mentioned that my filter appears to have formed a (even less than) hair-like pattern Water began spraying from a crack in the process of forming a very fine mist. Then you must be wondering why on earth did I give it four There was a change in the design and quality of the filter after the company changed it. Having both in my hands, I could see and feel that the newer one was much better. It has the same name and looks very similar, but holding both in my hands it's clear which one I think is superior. There were concerns that the old one might measure differently and would not fit where the previous owners had cut out the copper, but it fitted perfectly and I have never worked with plumbing in my life, yet I was able to take out the old one and install the new one It would take less than five minutes to change the filter. Despite the fact the testers keep saying the filter leaks (although it is not cracked), I have no problem with that. Occasionally, the odds may not be in our favor Some users report problems with the ring not being lubricated enough, and the bottom container is not screwed on tightly enough (you have to use the wrench that comes with it), but remember not to overfill. I tried a Chinese knockoff to save $5, but returned it. A whole house filter of this caliber is the best Seal of the United States A very small amount of torque is required to operate the ring. Changing out the filter causes only a small amount of water to spill.
This is great, it works great, and is easy to install , just run this through the water pipes under the house and the entire house will be filtered, but we don't filter the entire house, no need to, just the drinking water and the kitchen and dish washer. Having had one of these for more than 35 years, it broke about 6 months ago, and I went straight to Amazon to find the one we had, and it was this one , ordered fast and it arrived fast, and the filters for the one that broke fit in it, as well. On a side note, we just bought a new refrigerator that has a filter in it. We were told replacing the filter would cost around $70. No way, we use this model and it comes with three filters per pack at far less than replacing the new refrigerator. I don't want to pay that much for filters. I find it infuriating to spend that much on a refrigerator filter when you can get a whole house water filter for the same money.
