I believe it is possible if you do not have a fence. The clearance distance from any obstacle, such as a fence or tree, will, however, necessitate some follow-through. up the edging And, unlike some older models, the RX20 lacks an "edge mow" feature that allows you to mow a pass around the perimeter (I had an RM400 with this feature). Overall, I believe the RX20's edging ability is where it falls short.

This small machine does a mediocre job of keeping my lawn in good shape. It was a more involved installation than what they advertised on their "happy videos" website because I had to work hard to bury the border wire beneath my St. Augustine grass. Simply staking it to the top didn't work because the machine could cut its own wire while in use. To avoid wire snafus, I had to work much harder (for several days) to get the wire and stakes in the ground. They don't include enough wire or stakes in the kit to outfit a standard sized yard, so you'll have to buy more (from a different provider because Robomow didn't have any) before attempting installation or risk being stalled while waiting for them to be shipped and arrive. This little guy was purchased specifically because it reads - - in unmistakable terms - The RX20 has a rain sensor, according to the Amazon page, and I live in Houston, where it rains a lot, so having that feature was important to me. After a few months of wondering if I had not programmed it properly because it refused to return to its base station when it rained, I went to the Robomow website and saw that this unit does not have a rain sensor - more deception in the media This was a big ping for me, and I'd like to return it just because of the false claim. Cutting quality is mediocre in both directions, and the unit never seems to find its way around the yard to cut where it needs to due to a faulty algorithm - It's not very smart and doesn't learn, so it'll keep cutting the same path and only occasionally find its way to where it needs to go. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. I'd wait until better technology becomes available, or perhaps upgrade to a more expensive unit. This was the one I chose because my yard is too small for a large unit to fit in, and this seemed like the best option. I'm not happy with Robomow for stating on Amazon that this unit has a rain sensor and then stating the opposite in small print on their website.
It's terrible; perfect terrain is required. The mower will come to a halt if there are any ruts or dips in the ground. I used to have a lawnmower that was more than a decade old. It's been working well since 2003. MTD has purchased Friendly Robotics. MTD has decided to no longer support older robots. This model was purchased. This isn't even close to the level of the show. Only newer models are supported by MTD. All of the old parts were thrown away in a dumpster. This is a model that I do not recommend. I was attempting to mow a small patch of grass. I'm not going to do anything. $800 was squandered on me.
It only worked three times out of a total of nine attempts. Then there was a night of rain, which I neglected to bring in during the day. It didn't work the next day. When I pressed the start button with a fully charged battery, the green light flashed four times, the red light came on and beeped three times, and then nothing happened. It's impossible to figure out what went wrong with it because there's no place to look. Without knowing what three beeps and a red light mean, an online troubleshooting page is useless.

For about three weeks, it appears to work intermittently. Then I display errors that indicate a problem with the perimeter wire loop. We tried replacing it twice, but it didn't make a difference. Customer service was unavailable when we attempted to contact them. The product was a waste of money because it never worked for us.
Robomow is one of my favorite things in the world. This is my second time around. The first was an RS612, which is significantly better than the RX20. It's significantly heavier, and the two blades do a better job of mowing. The RX20, on the other hand, does a better job of edging and is easier to transport to some non-contiguous areas I have, and the battery lasts about 2 hours, which is enough for a small yard. For small, flat yards, I recommend the RX20. It is well worth the money. I just sit back and enjoy a beer while robomow takes care of the rest. The silence is also noteworthy. It's barely audible! The world would be a much more peaceful place if everyone owned one.
I wanted to mow my lawn because I'm disabled, but it never worked.
