Questions & Answers

Is it necessary to have boundary wires in a fenced yard?

Yes, the boundary wire will still be required.

Is it possible to run wires across the driveway to the next patch of grass to get the machine across?

If your driveway is made of concrete or asphalt, you might be able to do so. This is how I get from the rest of my lawn to a cement walkway. However, you should be careful not to run over the mower as it crosses the driveway. You also can't cross a gravel driveway this way because the blades are still spinning as it crosses the path.

Is the firmware updated on a regular basis? Is a trip to the dealer necessary?

Hi there! Updates are usually performed once a year and are as simple as plugging in the provided USB cable to a computer.

The description of the product is incorrect
3/5

This product appears to come in two versions, one with Bluetooth capabilities and the other without. I received a version that was not Bluetooth capable, despite the fact that this was not stated explicitly. Because it arrived with a drained battery, I discovered this after I had set up the boundary wire while it was charging. It was missing the menu option to connect to the bluetooth app, and after digging through the owner's manual, I discovered that there are two versions of this product, one of which is not listed on the manufacturer's website.

For the lazy, this is an excellent mower
5/5

If you, like me, despise mowing, don't mind a little setup and prep, and don't care about having a "perfect" lawn, this is an excellent little device to have. br>So, to begin this full review, let me say: Mowing is a chore I despise. I try to avoid it as much as possible, and as a result, in the Florida rain, my yard often gets out of hand very quickly. That being said, this little guy is exactly what someone like me needs, a way to make my yard look presentable without putting in hours of manual labor. It's also probably the coolest thing I own right now. br>br>Preparation and Setupbr>I highly recommend watching the manufacturer's YouTube videos on how to unbox and set up the mower; the included guide was lengthy and difficult to follow, but setup was a breeze after watching the videos. Unboxing was also simple; everything was well-packaged and labeled, and I was pleasantly surprised by how compact the mower was. br>Any large branches or obstacles that the mower might catch on must be removed from your yard. I did notice it getting stuck on some branches that I neglected to clean up. br>Setting up the boundary/guide wire, which entails outlining your yard with the included wire and connecting it back to the base station, where I'm assuming it gets power to tell the mower where the boundary limits are, is by far the most difficult and time-consuming part of the setup. A guide wire connects the base station to the boundary wire, and the two are spliced together using an included coupler. If you're not used to cutting and joining wires, this may appear intimidating at first, but it's actually quite simple after watching the videos. br> The most important thing is to make sure the wire is firmly planted. There are two options listed in the instructions: I chose to use stakes, but I made the mistake of not using more of them closer together at first, and the mower became tangled in the wire; this was an easy fix by ensuring that a stake was placed every 2 feet of wire to hold it down (they came with a lot of stakes). br>br>Running the Mowerbr>As soon as you turn on the mower, you'll be taken through a simple installation wizard that allows you to set your preferences and schedule. You can also test it out and let it run by overriding the schedule. You should definitely watch it the first time to make sure everything is working properly, but after that, it's pretty much set and forget. I'm not sure if it could handle large brush, but I had just mowed my lawn a few weeks before, so it didn't have to work very hard. I stood outside for about 30 minutes watching it go before returning inside to check on it. It didn't get stuck, and after a couple hours, it made its way back to the base station to charge up for the day. br>br>Setting up the Appbr>Another review on here mentioned not having the Bluetooth model and being unable to use the app, which led me to believe the one I had lacked Bluetooth as well. It turns out that all of their mowers have Bluetooth; all you have to do is open the app, turn off the mower while it's in the station, and then turn it back on. P0 was the designation given to it. I renamed him 'Fenton' on my phone number two. My Android phone recognized it almost immediately, and I was pleased with the options, which include the ability to fine-tune your schedule, spot mow a specific area where you place it, and, of course, manually start it for a specific period of time. br>br>Charging Station Coverbr>Because the weather in Florida is so unpredictable, having a charging station cover or "Garage" is a great way to avoid having to worry about it. While the guide claims that the mower is built to withstand all types of weather, I do recommend getting the cover if you want a little extra peace of mind. The mower is insanely quiet; I only ever heard the blade when it hit a taller piece of grass. br>br>Final thoughtsbr>The mower is insanely quiet; I only ever heard the blade when it hit a taller piece of grass. It's also extremely maneuverable, which surprised me. My soil is very soft and leafy, and my push mower digs into it constantly, making it difficult to mow at times. This little guy, I guess, isn't heavy enough to get stuck. All of this is to say that this mower isn't a "do it all" device, at least not for my yard. I set my boundaries to basically a large open area, and I'll have to touch up the areas where I thought it wouldn't work well due to large brush or other obstacles. br>br>I would strongly recommend this mower to anyone with a "simple" yard layout or who despises mowing. It's very convenient for me to have a well-kept yard without having to do any of the work.

There is no contact information for customer service

I had to give it back to them. My father was the recipient of this gift. He's a retired aerospace engineer, but even he couldn't figure out how to lay the guidewire in his yard, so he emailed Gardena, who referred him to a specific person who never responded. It was given back to us. I didn't realize Gardena didn't have a phone number listed, so plan on waiting if you need help.

Without virtual walls, it is impossible to function
3/5

While I was aware of this product's sensor walls, I mistook them for virtual Roomba walls. They weren't required, to put it another way. br>br>I mistook this for a Roomba, thinking that you could simply turn on the robot and it would do its job while avoiding obstacles, and that no virtual walls were required to operate. This robot, however, cannot function without sensor wires. br>br>I had only wanted it for the fenced-in dog section of our backyard. br>br>This robot, however, cannot function without sensor wires. Even if one of the manuals is damaged, the unit as a whole will not mow. You have to search for that one bulb, just like with Christmas lights, or the entire string will stop working. br>br>This was returned to me.

Following the initial set-up, mowing of a small section of lawn by itself My first impressions of the Gardena 15001 are as follows: SILENO City 2700 sq ft Robotic Lawn Mower 41 SILENO City 2700 sq ft Robotic Lawn Mower 41 SILENO City 2700 sq ft Robotic Lawn Mower 41 Spools of wire, splicers and connectors, yard stakes, yard screws, measuring devices, and a lot of paperwork were included in the robot mower's packaging

I was dreading the installation because the "Quick Start" guide was confusing and the diagrams were unclear. br>br>And my first attempt was a complete failure. Because I didn't install the wire close enough to the ground, the wire was shredded and cut in multiple places by this robot mower. I was able to get the robot to behave after several trial and error attempts; it took me a full day to get everything set up properly; However, the end result was a pleasant surprise. br>br>If I had to do it all over again, knowing what I know now, it wouldn't be nearly as difficult. Install the two connectors that will plug each end of the loop to the docking station, then run another wire from the charging station through the middle of the loop and connect it to the loop at the far end with a three-pronged connector. Using a way splicer, secure the base to the ground with yard screws, and follow the set-up instructions. On the LCD screen, turn on the up wizard, and that's all there is to it. The robot will now mow the lawn on a daily basis in accordance with its five-day schedule. During the setup, I chose a 5-hour window. br>br>It's also a dexterous mower. Small holes and inclines are no problem for it. However, I did have to fill in a couple of holes left by my dog. Because there is nothing beneath the blades, if the unit travels over a large enough hole, it will detect being "lifted. " When in this state, it shuts down until it is manually restarted. br>br>Is it true that this product works in all weather conditions? In the middle of a rainstorm, with fairly tall grass, I put it to the test. Okay, I'll admit that I'm blown away. This little device performed admirably throughout the rainstorm, cutting the grass in a timely manner. I suppose it works because of the small razor blades attached to the rotating disc - In a storm, my larger 22" gas-powered mower would have no chance of cutting the grass. br>br>It's impossible to deny that I could mow this small 250-square-meter section of my yard in a matter of minutes with a push mower. I suppose the benefit of having the automation is that the section of yard that this Gardena 15001-A is in can be used for other purposes. The height of 41 cleans is *always* the right one. It's pointless to say that the lawn "needs mowing" - It's always perfect because I have it near my patio, and mosquitoes and summer bugs tend to flee the house in search of higher grass. There is worth in this. br>br>When in use, this unit makes no noise and can run all night if needed. br>br>Overall, there is an initial setup cost that can take a long time and cause frustration. However, the box contains enough materials to allow for some trial and error. There are plenty of splicers, guide wire, and stakes to go around. However, my unit had a broken front cover, which could have happened during shipping, so better protection of the unit in the box would be appreciated. I haven't had any issues with the unit running for several days - It does its job and returns to the dock every day without my intervention. If hands- If free mowing on a small section of lawn is desired, I have no reservations in recommending the fine European engineering found in the Gardena 15001-S. SILENO is a city in the state of Sinema, in the state of.
